Which folder of yours locks open like a FB??

Here is another vote for All the BM bali, the Bradley Mayhem, and the Skirmish. All of them feel solid as a FB when locked open.

After giving this some thought, I frankly have to say "none".

Maybe it's a matter of degree, and I have several of
the knives listed above, but when I'm working with
a fixed blade I'm aware of its strength and structural
integrity - tang to tip- in a way I just don't get from any
folding knife.

My small Sebenza . When I had a Strider PT, it was very solid as was my BM Mini Stryker.

Agreed. I've got folders I'll chop, baton and pry with, but I still treat them differently than I would any of my fixed blades.

No such animal but the Axis lock used by BenchMade and Cold Steel, the ball lock by Spyderco and arc lock by SOG are all impressively strong and probably as close to fixed blade performance when they work as anything ever devised by man in a folding knife.

SOG reportedly put over 332 pounds on the ARC lock tail end of the knife via a cable with free hanging weights before it defeated.

I know of at least one similar test to the axis lock with similar results and one story of a soldier in the field using a 14210 HK folder as a leg up when opened and hammered into a mortar joint between two blocks in a wall.

My Retribution 1, Strider AR, and Crawford Marauder all lock up "no-movement" tight and you could say they are FB tight, but I would never be able to use them as a fixed blade, no matter how solid they feel.

My Sebenza, BM 806 D2, and BM mini Grip.
No flex, play nowhere!

My Mini Skirmish, Manix and Sebenza are all very solid. I haven't found a liner lock that I can say the same about. I did have a Buck/strider that was very good.

I've got Sebenzas, Benchmade 710s with Axis locks, and various other locking folders with impressive locks. None of them are a substitute for a fixed blade.

I agree with the latter part of KiethAM's comment as I will never fully trust a folder to not close on me fingers but if I had to choose they would be my
Outdoor Edge Magna , BM MiniPika and my old yet trusty Buck 110.

My Spyderco Chinook II. But I think whatever makes you feel that a folder must be more carefully used than a fixed blade, seems to be a pshycological barrier. Cheers!
