Which knife do you like that others...well, really don't?

Brennan,

Like I said in my OP, there's such a bewildering array of knives, makers and styles that I'm constantly finding new knives I've never heard of before.

That Adel Blade is a looker for sure.

Best,

Heekma

I don't know who designed it but it always looks to me like they were a Pat Crawford fan.

I really like my Cold Steel Trailmaster. If for no other reason than because it seems the overwhelming majority of knife folks here hate Cold Steel (though i must admit the videos are 'interesting').

It's a great field knife and that's all i really need. Something that i can beat the snot out of and not worry about.

I also like my Buck Paklite Skinner. Not much press here about it - only a few seem to have one and it's great! Especially for the lunch-money (~$14) i paid for it.

BM MiniGrip: Seems to be love it or hate it thing.

BM 32: Seems to be hated by Bali fans and too expensive for everybody else. I love it and wish I could carry it outside the house. I have heard they are OK in VA but also heard the opposite so won't risk it.

Spyderco Spin: One of the few sub 2" blades I can easily open one handed. Nobody else seems to be able to do so however.

No one else seemed to care for the Spyderco Delica in stainless, but I really like it for the extra heft compared to the lighter options.

CRKT M21-14SFG. idk about this knife in particular, but ive seen a lot of people dislike CRKT. I like it though.

-large blade (3.875 in)
-g10 (i like the feel of g10)
-tip up, tip down, left, right side carry
-very easy to open with the flipper
-full hilt on a folder is nice too
-it is a liner lock but its a decent sized liner
-i hear people complain about the autolawks but honestly if you mess with it for a week you get used to it. i hardly notice it anymore. can easily close it with one hand. extra second to close, but i cant really think of a situation where you need to close a knife with lightning speed anyways
-came out of the box very sharp too

all for $60 (after shipping and tax)

it does have its flaws though. the pocket clip is pretty stiff and the thumb studs are too close to the handle to be useful but the flipper is very smooth so i dont see a reason to use the studs anyways.

cool thread topic too btw

You know, I love the look of the Resistor, but I have never handled one. I will probably buy it at some point.

As for my own pick, I'm almost ashamed to admit this, but the CRKT KISS. No, not that horrid stubby tanto thing, I mean the larger version with a 3 in. spear point blade. Of course, I fully admit it is more gimmick than serious knife, but I do like the unique design. I hardly ever carry it, nor put it to hard use, but as a 'dress knife' for light chores, it works acceptably well. Its different. Now I feel so dirty....

i have a crkt m21-04 in aus8a steel that i love alot. in my opinion it will do anything a benchmade knife will do. mine is a little different than one you would buy in a store though. i modified mine by taking off the secondary "lawk" and replaced the teflon washers with ancient chinese bronze coins that i had to modify the diameter on but, this thing is tight and works perfectly. my brother in law is so convinced of bm's superiority that every time he sees my crkt he comments about how he doesn't like crkt. they sure do seem to be good work knives though in my opinion. and at least the steel doesn't roll over when you sharpen it.

yeah my kershaw needs work actually sparked my interest in kershaw and while it seems most people dont seem to like the design of the knife i really liked that it seemed or at least to me like a fusion of new age tech and a japanese kiridashi

I don't feel a lot interest out there for the new CRKT Onion Eros but I think it fills a pretty useful niche' and is not a cheap quality knife. I agree it's over priced considering other knives you can buy for $125 but it's a pretty nice knife that weighs almost nothing while still filling the hand pretty nicely. It's like a (relatively) hand filling mini -folder that isn't mini at all. It's pretty much as long as a Sage 2 when deployed. I carried mine in golf shorts that I don't wear a belt with this weekend and it was 100% unfelt in my shorts with my divot tool/ball marker right next to it. I like it for what I bought it for.

Arguably one the best built production folders, but unfortunately it has a bad reputation that's not even related to the knife itself. I'm going to run and hide now.

I apologize for the impending thread derailment.

I have 2 Buck/Strider 996's that I really like. I know most Striderholics really look down on them but they are a decent hard use knife. Mine sees a lot of EDC use.

+1 on the Spyderco Spin. It's a great little knife that never has seemed all that popular on the forums

Benchmade Hardtail 13100.

IMO it's a near perfect blend between the classic Buck 110 and Benchmade 710 but its Harley-Davidson logo/partnership seems to turn everyone off.

I agree, and I agree it looks kind of dork-ey but functionally it's a really great knife!

Newbie question: what reputation?
