Which knife got you hooked?

Caly 3 carbon fiber zdp-189. I bought it second hand, and at the time I had never heard of spyderco or any knife manufacturers. I was a neewbie. The guy that sold it to me told me I was going to get hooked. I didnt believe him, but he was right...

That was me and.....

I'm always right.

LOL!

Buck 110 & Kershaw folding field 1050. I was given a 1050 from a family friend after messing up my hand pretty badly when I young, he saw me dropping my buck a lot while I was gutting a deer gave me the 1050. I haven't stopped buying Kershaw's and other knives since. Man this thread just made me feel old:)

Kershaw Leek was my first "non trash" knife (other than SAKs) and for the longest time I thought it was the perfect EDC, until I got a Griptilian and it was all over.

Ok, the first knife I ever had was a SAK that I received for my 7'th birthday. I carried it everywhere. Though at this point I was not "hooked"...
I think the point of getting "hooked" was sometime later. I had internet for the first time and discovered a whole world of knives I never knew where to find before. I bought a Chris Reeve hollow handle Project II - that was it... SO many knives after that.
I think I am in recovery now...
I regret nothing.

Back in the day (circa mid-to-late 1990's), it was the Benchmade AFCK, but it quickly became anything made by BM or Spyderco.

Mora Classics for me... Their pricing made many knives in differing sizes available to me (even though they are all the same). And when I realized I could just lay the bevel flat on an ancient stone my dad gave to me and polish the heck out of it and make it sweetly sharp- I arrived, and I've not yet left.

My ESEE Junglas was what really sealed the deal that there is some truth in "you get what you pay for" in the more higher end knives as far as normal people are concerned.

Microtech DOC is what really got me interested in folders.
