Which Knife(s) Do We Takes With Us My Precious?

Let me revise my previous two-knife selection and replace the Bark Rivers with two from Bruce Culberson. They just came in yesterday.

Not to be an ass or anything, just asking a question. Is there really a purpose to the short as hell saw on the spine? Can you actually cut anything with the saw that you could not chow through with one swing? I am just curious, because it seems too short to be useful, more or less to look cool? And again, I am not trying to demean the knives, just wanting to know some thoughts. Also, with a double sharpened edge, it may not baton as easily.

You can see in my post that I had the blade extended , 3 more inches, and i had the false edge on the top removed and left flat. The serrations that Dan does now are double sided and actually remove lots of wood if you intended to do that. It makes for efficient notching, creating tender, or in a pinch sawing. I dont think there would be much use for it on a normal size 5 inch blade. You can also still manage to cut through things for a long long time with serrations, long after the main edge has dulled. So I found all those reasons to be upsides for me. The base design has alot of room for flexibility beyond that of other typical blades. With my design changes I am confident i will a single tool that can do everything I will need. And be damn near indestructible.

If it pans out I will have it for my 2 week Rockies adventure and I will capture some footage of using it in the field.

I'm chucking them all in a bag to take with me.
Maybe I'll be down to 2-3 after bartering some away, but not likely.

Wow. That is a stunning package. I'm impressed. Nice couple of blades there. What are the specs on those? I love the piggyback sheath too. Very cool set-up.

SDS Nessmuk, because it is my best knife at the moment
Vic Spirit multitool, because it is always with me and offers exceptional utility

For bugging out, I'd think about also throwing in a Mora 510 because it is light enough not to notice.

I'd want to include a large chopper, but I don't have one (embarrassing)...

Hey, I think you made a great choice! It isn't my first choice, but then most of us have chosen something different here, for reasons we think are important. I would love to hear the report on how that beast performs. Let us know when you get it :D

I was looking through here and saw this thread. If you mean to get the heck out of town because of.... You put the situation here. I would think that the knife I take, would be the one on me. I have a Kershaw that I have had for years. On me at all times. I also carry a Swiss army knife. The Kershaw is well used and reliable the Swiss army knife is just an old friend that I keep on me. So these would be the ones I would have to take..JMO

That is a beautiful duo!

For quite some time I was obsessed with matching knives and piggyback sheaths. Although I'm not entirely over it, I have made progress. That is, until I saw that same amazing duo!

Having just one, Id go with my BWM. Two reasons: For utility, it covers all my needs. It would also be decent for defense.

The other main reason for taking it, is that it was a gift from people I care about. It would help keep them close to me, even though that may not be possible if such a situation did arise.

Pics, for fun:)

^ That BWM is HOT! If they put the CF BWM's up on the Company site, I'll have to pick one up. I'm a sucker for uncoated blades but have a hard time getting behind coated ones. They just don't appeal to me :(

CRK mountaineer 1 on my belt, JK camper on my ruck. Same thing I always carry.

EDIT: Also carry a swiss army SOS kit(old style) on my belt.

Hey, I've never heard of the SA SOS kit. What is the scoop on it? Any pictures?

Since the Op speaks of our "precious" .....maybe I'll choose these, as they're made by magical elves, and glow when orcs are around! :p

Those are, in fact LOTR swords aren't they? Neat. Are they made for actual use or just display? I suspect the latter.

Yep, those are the licenced LOTR reproduction swords. They are for display only, but have very nice fit, finish, and balance. I'm just a nerd at heart and enjoy having them in my collection. :D

Your reference to "my precious" made me think of throwing in a pic just for fun! ....I forget the maker, but I have seen a custom made short sword based on the design for "sting" that was made to be used. Pretty cool since it is a very well balanced blade! ...feels fantastic and lively in the hand!

Very cool swords man! I like big knives, I'll have to look into swords some day. Most appear to be ornamental though, whats the word, are many makers putting usable swords together?
