Which knife would the original James Bond have carried with todays current knives?

I would suggest an Italian stiletto automatic.

This is a nice 8 inch long bladed switchblade from SKM, just right for stabbing people in her Majesty's service.

I have a feeling the original James Bond would carry this knife even with the options of today.

That knife just has meanness and business written all over it.

Classy, subtle, and quite stabby. Almost agreed with the sebenza, but Bond doesn't carry things everyone else has, and it seems everyone (but me) around here has a sebenza. Nice thread OP.

There is only one knife cool enough for Bond; The ever elusive Jarbenza.

An original Fairbairn Sykes fighting knife, probably a bit worn out (like him).
A Q-made ballistic knife to end those knife fights the 00- way.
And in his pocket would be a Sheffield-made slip joint - which of course would be a gift from Miss Moneypenny and engraved with something suggestive.

Good thread.

This is the best answer.

I would think something to match his Austin Martin and the Walther PPK.

That was pretty tricky...merging two different auto manufacturers like that... the Austin...made in Grand Rapids, Mich in the early 1900's, and the Aston Martin... , a British beauty that I always dreamed about but could never afford.

Knives??? No, I dunno nuttin'.

A super steel quick draw fixed blade like this Monte Gear Ultra lite.

This requires reflection. The 1960s Bond would have carried a small gentleman's folder, probably in sterling, for the same reasons all gentlemen did (and do)--loose threads, nail care, opening the odd packet. Probably a Swiss Army Knife acquired on a youthful ski trip for country outings.
Professionally he would have carried a Sykes-Fairbairn dagger like the one he was issued during WW2. It would have been disposable, with no sentimental attachments.

After the 60s, Bond would have retired his increasingly obsolete PPK and its .380 round. I think he probably adopted the Vic SwissChamp once it came out.
Today his weapon choices would be strictly mission-specific, and always disposed of afterwards. No sentimentality. No evidence trail.
A clean job, a few weeks free, then on to the next assignment.

It would be fun debating which currently available knife he would choose for which type of mission.

PS. I wrote this before seeing Chris Larrikin's post above. Great minds. I like the 'inscription from Moneypenny' touch.

Something European. Made by Fox, Lion Steel, Böker or Victorinox. Or maybe Bastinelli.

Perhaps a Lion Steel SR-2A. Or a Böker Leopard Damast II. I don't know.

Bond used a 7.65mm PPK (.32 ACP).

I'm thinking an IWB Mini-Infidel, all black. He needs a very quick opener sometimes, danger pops up unexpectedly in his line of work.

The new Bond is back with the PPK..but this time he uses the PPK/S which is the .380 caliber instead of the .32 cal.

Walther PPK/S, Bond's newly issued sidearm in Skyfall. Q provides Bond with a signature version that only his palm print can activate to shoot.

By Jove he did have a Rolex! I googled James Bond watch and it came up Omega ,,,they even have a 50th anniversary watch for 50 years of Bond wearing an Omega! Oh we'll?

(there are more than 1 Bond) For a long time there was one specific model of Omega Seamaster that was associated with Bond, sometimes called the Bond Seamaster. Then when the Omega Planet Ocean came out they eventually made a 007 version.

Huge Bond fan here. Hell, I even own P99 in 9mm. Anyways, the first thing to came to mind was a small Sebenza. Classic and quality, which is what Bond projects.

Btw, FWIW..Bond carried a PPK in .32, then .380..switched to the P99 for awhile, only to return to the PPK in Skyfall. Bonds watches have primarily been Omegas and Rolexes, but has worn Seiko, Hamilton, and Breitling as well.
