Which knife would you choose

Where is a M390 Delica? I'd buy the K390 Delica over the Bugout. I'm on the side that couldn't get over the rubbery handle of the Bugout. I thought at first it had to be a fake. I've not handled one of the more recent CF-Elite Bugouts but supposedly that corrects the rubber flexy feel. Or the Delica has full steel liners that make the whole knife feel solid in hand.

Bugout is a watch pocket knife. Not a bad 2nd or 3rd knife you forget you even have on you I agree all but the metal handled version feel flimsy.

I think I would go with the bug out, but either would be a great all around only-knife for most pocket knife tasks.

Welcome. Short answer, Delica.

Then, because many of us here are enablers and like spending other's money, how committed you are to those two? Many fine options at or near what I think is the price range. Certain Para 3, Sage 5, Manix 2, Endura, Hogue Deka, Demko AD20.5, on and on. 940/945 cost more. GL curious what you choose and why.

The Bugout gets beat on a lot here, but I don't really get it. It's designed to be a truly thin flyweight (2.5 oz) pocket knife that still gives you a full 4-finger-grip and maximizes the cutting length on the blade, which is significantly longer than the Delica in the same overall package. I love Spyderco, but the Delica is not my favorite design from them.

I've carried an M390 / aluminum version for several years and never felt like it wasn't up to any task I'd ask of any folder. The only thing I've picked up recently that I carry more when I want something truly thin and light is a ZT 0545.

I have more BM than Spyderco. But based on my Endura and Endela (both K390) I have to recommend the Delica. Size, weight, blade design, steel, feel in the hand, they're just superb IMHO. And you'll never get a sharper knife out of the box. Betch'a 50 cents. Plus I'm a troglodyte who's a fan of lockbacks. Goes back to '72 and a 110 I guess.

Both .
I have many Delicas and they are truly great ( as was said : everyone needs one or to at least try one ) .

Still though , that axis lock is useful and fun .
I have been meaning to say this for a long time and this seems like the time and place :
I was WRONG about the Bugout and you all were right !
It is a great knife :
thin useful blade
ergos are much better than I thought they would be
there is some texture on top of the handle in the liners near the pivot which in it'self practically sold me on the design .

Back then I was one track mind toward handles that are more boxy ( and still like these a lot ) think ; trapper and 110 and Ti Lite .

The Bugout is great as well !

I own both, except my Delica is in VG10, I like both, however between the two I like the bugout better. I am more of a traditional blade shape guy, and I have a hard time with spydercos big leaf shaped blade (because of the spydie hole) but the delica is a great knife. You can't go wrong with either one.

M390 Delica.

I have a Delica in 20CV, which is essentially the same alloy. I have other Delicas, as well. The Delica is so thin it disappears in the pocket, but thanks to the nested liners is very robust in the hand. And the pattern on the handles ensures a super sure grip. Highly recommended.,

Here's my 20CV Delica and 20CV Endura

Beautiful knives sir. I’m a fan of the FRN too. I never felt it was a tier below G10.

Ooooo....I love when these threads become a "hot take" soapbox. When is someone gonna say CRK's are overrated???

The bugout and delica are both cool in their own ways....

That's what the guy who entered a demolition derby with a Ferrari F40 said .
Griptillians are not for everyone ; love both of mine . One is M390 .👍
I don't doubt it's capability when doing work (though I don't trust the Axis lock very much), the handle is certainly nice and hand-filling, it's just that knife, especially for the price here in Europe, does nothing for me. I am a Spyderco fanboy though and there's also something about Benchmade as a whole that just somehow irks me

the Delica leaves my hand feeling a bit scrunched.
Not surprising .
i seem to have read some where in the Sydie history that the Delica was designed for women (small hands ) , so was the Astute .
I have size 9 / large .
Both knives make good small knives for me ; I usually carry a larger knife on the same day .

I handled one at a store a few years back and it's the only pocket knife that ever felt like a toy to me. Flimsy and cheap, like it's something you buy from a 25-cent machine. I know the knife is incredibly popular but I couldn't get over that feeling.
do not under any circumstances then handle competition grade sporting gear or auto body parts ; they will have you cowering in a corner in terror .
They sound all hollowie and cheep plasticy any . . .
boy do they move fast !

I agree , that would be oh . . . let me see . . . could it be the exorbitant price for a knife with no steel liners that costs as much as a Para 2 cost not long ago ?
That would be one of my peeves .

Spyderco Delica.

That said, buy whichever one tickles your fancy. I'd go with the Delica because I'm not fond of broken Omega springs (said to be rare) or squishy handles (ymmv) or Benchmade's prices.
