Which knife would you choose

Benchmade Bugouts have my vote. Initially I did not care for them, after coming from the heavier knife side I thought they were too light. But not so. They kick butt 👊 And are so worldly 😁

The Bugout gets beat on a lot here, but I don't really get it.
ha ha when it first came out I used to be all : what a boring generic knife (that was when I mistakenly thought the blade was too thick like all the other knives on the planet back then ( except the Delica and Chaparral )) .

Now that I finally broke down and have a few and changed my mind I am seeing people here are saying my old opinion ( that I admit was only based on what I could see in images ).
. . . was I far ahead of the curve or that far behind and missed the bus ? ? ?

I'm glad I have some Bugouts but I am easy on my gear and chose the right tool for a job / most likely won't find my self alone in the Yukon with only a Bugout to make a cabin with .

do not under any circumstances then handle competition grade sporting gear or auto body parts ; they will have you cowering in a corner in terror .
They sound all hollowie and cheep plasticy any . . .
boy do they move fast !
I worked in high-end fabrication using carbon fiber, aerospace grade foamcoare, biax and triax fiberglass, etc. The Benchmade felt like a toy to me. Simple as that.

I have a Delica in VG10 and a Mini Bugout in S30V. I like them both very much but I choose the Delica if it has to be one or the other.

The Delica has much better ergonomics, a more slip-free grip, and I find the Spydie hump to be almost addictive. After carrying my Delica or my Para 3 for just one day, any knife without a Spydie hump feels awkward. Like driving a tractor trailer rig all day and then hopping into a Toyota Corolla.

My design preferences would steer me towards the Delica. Full flat grind, a fine point and overall excellent cutting geometry in a thin, comfortable, easy to carry knife. The Bugout...I just don't think represents quite as great a value, or at least not in my neck of the woods.

For steel, I....actually would prefer the Benchmade. If I've ever had M390, I don't remember it, but...I keep hearing it compared to 20CV, and I HATE that steel It's a bearcat to sharpen. Getting it to shave arm hair is tedious, but not exhausting. Getting it to pop arm hair, whittle hairs, etc. is a different matter altogether. I finally achieved that hair whittling edge on my CPM 20V Endura...Then promptly sold the knife, cause...I ain't always too bright that way. Perhaps I'm just not all that good at sharpening, but I've got dozens of knives that have taken a better edge, held it well (Admittedly, not as well) that I've had much better luck with.

Spyderco has Delicas available in lotsa good steels. If I found one in Cru-Wear, I'd be all over it. Good luck, and I hope you're enjoying the decision process. It's wonderful to be able to profoundly consider the choices we have available to us.

Why / how ?
PS : I can't stand carbon fiber bicycles for the same reason . I'm a custom made brazed steel guy for ever so in a way " I hear yah " 👍

My bet is the rubbery grivory most Bugout's have. I felt very much the same first time I held one. I thought it had to be a knock off. Supposedly this is corrected in the CF-Elite versions.

I have both but if I could only keep one it’s going to be my Delica. IMO your dollar goes further with Spyderco although the Bugout is also is very good knife. I say get them both and call it a day.

Everybody knows: Everybody “needs” a Bugout. Bet the vast majority of those posting in this thread have one. ☝️

I like both for different reasons, but if I had to pick one it would be the Delica. I have one in k390 and believe you me… that thing gets stupid sharp and holds an edge like you wouldn’t believe. It is just a really good edc that performs that role really well. There really is no wrong answer.
