Which knives do you actually use?

Just my kitchen knives, SAKs, box cutters/utility knives (that actually are box cutters/utility knives) and a machete that I sometimes use in the garden.

I use to use my Buck 110 while camping/backpacking but that was before JetBoil and freeze dried food. Don't camp/backpack much (if at all) any more but, if I did, all I'd carry would be an SAK to open up freeze dried food packages.

Speaking of users...

Was picking out tomorrow's carry and noticed that my Manix 2, Domino, and Pm2 needed a touch up.

I love CTS-XHP, I can get it really sharp with the sharpmaker ultra fine stones. I use the free hand set up. The PM2's S30V gets pretty sharp too. XHP holds its edge longer from what I've experienced.

I enjoy this. I'm sure eventually I'll get to the point on some of these where I'll need to make a new bevel, but not close on any of my knives, yet.

Getting close to time to work on my ZT 0095BLK. Not particularly looking forward to S90V but it wasn't that bad last time. M4 was the most challenging, but I never let my knives get "dull." I do fear the day I need to work on S125V.

I use all my knives, I only have a few. Multi-tool, hunting knife, small machete, large machete. They see use hiking, hunting or tidying the yard most weeks.

I nearly always have a SAK on my belt (usually my Climber, but that has now been replaced with my new Mountaineer) which is the knife I use the most.
But when I do use my Spyderco Pacific Salt 2 at least several times a week.

All with a couple exceptions, that being a few collectible CRKs like my NICA tanto, a few Spydercos with collector numbers, some classic Cold Steels, and a few old sentimental ones that I've retired.

I use many of my fixed blades (nothing fancy), some regularly some for fun.

With folding knives, I have, I estimate, 40 that are "users" though only about 10 will get regular use currently and of those only about 4 will be used nearly daily.

Becker BK14 - My daily user - boxes, letters, the occasional lint and so on.
Spyderco Endela - Whenever a stainless option is needed.
Some variety of an Alox SAK. Mostly to pry out staples with the bottle opener/flathead screwdriver.

+ On my Keychain the Alox classic 58mm is like a laser for cutting zip ties. Not a daily occurence, but 2-3 times a week.

There isn't a knife I purchase that I don't intend to use in some form or fashion. Most of my cutting needs are pretty light. My Mictotechs, CRK, and Benchmades don't see a lot of abuse.

If we are talking about what I actually use without wincing a little bit, any SAK I am carrying as well as the blades on a multitool.

My EDC is a Leatherman Wave. clip-carried in my right rear pocket. It is handy there, but it feels a bit heavy there.

I have been looking for a belt pouch that will mount horizontally that has secure retention.

On more formal occasions, I carry a Hen and Rooster folder that looks like a pen when clipped in my suit coat inner pocket.

I pretty much carry and use all of mine. The thing is, since I love knives I tend to carry multiple knives on a daily basis. My typical carry might include a modern folder, a traditional, an SAK, and a fully SE Dragonfly that I carry for the occasion when serrations are beneficial. When I'm in the woods the traditional often gets replaced with a fixed blade.

9 times out of 10 though in everyday life, when I have a knife cutting task, I simply reach for the modern folder first (or the fixed blade first when I'm carrying one of those). My traditionals are carried for my pure enjoyment. I like the feel of them as a tactile object. I like having them on me for the occasion when I purposefully want to cut something with them, and I simply like fooling with them throughout the day (or more often at the end of the day) when I get a free moment. That is how I "use" them.

I try to carry & use most of my folders on some sort of random rotation or via task specificity... but my Massdrop Perpetua gets used a lot for day to day tasks around the house. Leaving the house, a Kapara gets carried most often / consistently.

Fixed blades - I CC a knife if I am out & about 100% of the time; all other fixed blades are only if I am doing yard work or going camping / to ranch and selection is just whatever floats my boat. Have been using a Terava Skrama outdoors lately.
