Which knives do you actually use?

I know there are many "USEYERSTUFF"* folks in the knife world, but I'm not one of them. I have hundreds of knives, but carry and use maaaayyybe twenty or so out of them all, and in my case, my "use" is limited to light EDC tasks pretty much 99.999% of the time. I have more than enough knives, that at this point, I objectively would never have to sharpen a knife ever again for the rest of my life, and that suits me just fine.

* They certainly enjoy telling us about it often enough :D

Out of the roughly 200 blades I own, there's probably 4-6 that I wouldn't actually use, because they're just collector pieces. The rest get rotated into use eventually, rotated into location knives (kitchen, shop, shed, etc) for regular use, or set aside for specialty uses when that need arises. Having a rural woodlot and dealing with a lot of cardboard from incoming stock for my shop does mean that I have a lot more opportunity to carry and use knives than when I was living downtown in an apartment. It still means that some knives get used a lot more than others.

Today I've used my MKM Maniago Isonzo, Joker Lynx, Kizer Vanguard Mini Sheepdog (shop), Ontario Knife RAT Model 1 (kitchen), and Leatherman SkeleTool CX, as well as a Santoku and paring knife in the kitchen.

I buy my knives because I like the look of them, but carry and use them all.
Not into keeping knives for resale or jewelry.
They will get sharpened and used to minor tasks whatever it might be. I don't abuse my knives, except the fixed blades, and that's only for camping hiking and splitting wood for fireplace or bonfire.

Had a little Halloween get together at my place, my sister's family, and a family friend with her two daughters who are 18 and 14, who had never carved pumpkins. Apparently, my friend didn't trust them with knives. With so many people, I had to bust out a few folders as I didn't have many appropriate knives, and the little ones had the cheapies designed for it. 18 year old carved her first pumpkin ever with my ZT 0470. The 14 year old with my Hogue Exploit. Neither were the worse for wear.

My 2.5 year old niece wouldn't let anyone near her pumpkin. She wanted a cat face, so we drew it and she carved it almost all on her own. Very impressive, to be honest I couldn't do much better.
