Which knives would you NOT sell when downsizing?

I want to downsize my knife collection. Some of them are worth some $. Don't need all of 'em, don't want to worry about storing them as I move to a smaller place. I want to get rid of the clutter, so to speak. I would like to get your thoughts on which knives you might keep. I'd like to end up with no more than 10 that can easily fit within a drawer. I know this is a personal decision, but knowing this forum, I expect to get some interesting answers and perspectives!

My knives are shown below. I'd be interested in your thoughts, or how you chose which knives to keep when downsizing your own collection.

For example, I have kept the old benchmades on the left for years. Most are discontinued, seemed like they might have some value eventually. But maybe someone else might enjoy them more.

VERY nice collection!
Get rid of something else. How many chairs do you REALLY need?
(But if that dark wood Mnandi has to go: call me first!!)

If you don’t need the money and want to move a few, sell the Bugout column if you need some money sell the Shiro column(based on my assumption that the Shiro column is more valuable but hey I’m part idiot.)

Well, I'm not as qualified as most here but this looks like fun!
10 keepers:
The Davison
Brouwer
Zeiba
Lighter wood scaled Mnandi
The 2 William Henrys
Shiro/Reeve colab
Shiro custom
Rockstead
Pick one from hat

Best of luck whatever you decide! You do have a fantastic collection as is, would be tough to let the others go.

I didn't have nearly as nice as a collection as you do when I downsized. I just picked my favorite folder, and sold everything else that was worthwhile to sell. I kept a few sentimental knives as well and didn't feel like it was worth the hassle to sell anything with a sale price under about $50. I still have more than ten left, a few ladybugs on keychains, some swiss army knives stashed in first aid kits or in my glove box, backpack, etc. I also gifted some. (several people that bought one of my knives got an extra they didn't expect to recieve.) I thought perhaps I would never feel the urge to buy another knife, but that was incorrect. As I am now over fifty, I thought an old man's knife would be appropriate. I got a nice slipjoint. Viper knives sowbelly with stag and m390 blade steel. So I alternate that with a spyderco Ti stealth chaparral.

For advice, I'd keep the Umfaan as I've kicked myself many times for passing up the opportunities I had to buy one reasonably priced. Next pick two more favorites, looking at your collection, I'd say one dress knife and one hard use. (I'd pick one of the Mnandi's and the Brouwer, but that's me) Looking again, you should probably keep one of the slipjoints as well. Then sell the others one at a time starting with the one you think will bring the most money. Only put the next most expensive knife up for sale when the last transaction is completed. You may find you want to stop before you get down to ten, you may find you end up with three or four left.

Last thing, try to only use/carry the ones you plan to keep while selling the others one by one. That way you can change your mind as you go.

Everybody has their own tastes. I would suggest picking out the ones that you really like, the ones that you appreciate using, the ones that give you pleasure, the ones that maybe have sentimental value, and sell the rest.
I have my own tastes and my own collection. Only a couple of them have sentimental value so any of the others could go. I've noticed that knife people are very fickle and I am somewhat myself. I've bought knives that I really wanted, searched for, finally bought, and now they're gone. So any that I have that don't have sentimental value could be replaced at any time in the future.

Thanks for all your ideas! Very helpful. Here is what I am thinking:

Keepers:

1 940 - probably the old green one - one of benchmade's best, IMO. Great EDC
1 Mnandi (light wood) - CRK quality, nice gentleman's folder
Umfaan - because I was intrigued when it came out and will probably never find another
1 Howser - I love a good stag slipjoint and Mr. Howser passed away several years ago
2 Shiros - custom and regular - I think they are near-perfect designs for my tastes
Rogovets - because it's unique and built like a precision tank
Brouwer - great EDC - I just like it
Mini Bugout - great knife for small jobs around the house
Maybe keep the Davison - excellent knife, I like the blade shape and feel of it

Keepers for me would be:
- One small Sebenza (perhaps if theres one that has a more important birthday)
- spalted beach mnandi
- Umfaan (never heard of this model, but it looks cool and is most likely one of the most valuable pieces there)
- one Shiro (I'd go with the unihati personally)
- the Davison
- 940
- 450
- Brouwer

I like to have a variety of knife styles and this for me would cover the spectrum of styles, and represent the best knives from each of the makers IMO.
