Which of my knives should I not carry on me?

If you forced me to answer either "Yes, too many" or "No, not too many or just right", I'd vote "Yes, too many".

1. I would argue no need for the bowie. I personally think an 8" blade is too big for a survival knife. 5-6" for me is fine (knife blade that is .. :)) The Condor would handle most tasks well + Kukri thingy.
2. Drop the neck knife. I don't see a need.
3. I'm not a fan of carrying a "beater" knife to give to non-knife people. I would be more inclined to use my knife and do the task for them.

As others have said, you do you. If you don't find it uncomfortable and you aren't breaking any laws, carry whatever you want.

It's good to have several knives on you. That way if the SHTF you can pass some out and put people to work. You may be the only person around that has a knife. But there's no way that I would let myself be caught in a bad situation without at least one handgun/spare magazines.

I'm 69 years old and have done a lot of stuff in a lot of places. If not in a wilderness setting or war zone all I've ever needed or used is one good medium sized locking folder (or a small fixed blade) and a good slip joint - preference of mine being a medium stockman. The exception being a filet knife for obvious reasons. In a wilderness setting add a medium fixed blade. In a war zone the fixed blade was and still would be USMC fighting knife.

At some point wouldn't it be easier to just carry a gun? :)

Why not both ..

Or god forbid you get pulled over or stopped by LEO......

Last time I got pulled over, I had three handguns on me, and at least 8 knives. Three large fixed blades (two kukries over 12 inches, and a massive Busse WTF CG), matching custom Kwaiken set, a handful of slipjoints....and a machete and tomahawk in the trunk......

I told the officer I was carying and had a ccw.

As soon as I handed him my ID and ccw, laughed and said " you are the lawyer who always answers the on call/after hours dui phone!

I live in a small town. I would not be out and about with the huge fixed blades while running errands and such. I was coming from a family get together at my folks...... we always bring knives and guns to pass arround. At any of my family gatherings there are sure to be a handful of guns, and many knives.

I tend to over carry knives because I love knives.

I typically have a woek bag...and between customs, fixed blades and slipjoints and one handed folders, I'm carrying 5-7..... I work in an office, and they just go into a drawer.

When camping, if I am car camping it will be a handful of fixed blades and handful of folders.

If I have to hike, it gets greatly paired down.....

Last long hike, 18 miles in a day.... I took one light locking modern folder, and one light Opinel.... there was no need to process wood. No tent. Sleep under the stars event. .

If I'm out going to a restaurant or movie, I'll typically have a fixed blade and a traditional folder. Flashlight and gun/spare mags.

Today, out running errands I had a matched set of custom kewaikens, a small neck knife (box cutter style with rings for the finger) and two slip joints.

I don't have a use for them all when out.

At work, usually I cut an apple for lunch...so at least I have that going for me.

The short answer is Yes, you are carrying too many knives.....but I can't throw any stones......

Because I carry too many. I do go through long fazes where I slim it down to three or so. But j don't count the neck knife as one....

The Bushlore and the Mule should take care of just about anything you’d need. And maybe the multitool. In your pack either the bowie or the “omniblade”, whatever that might be, but only if you’re going to be out in the boonies somewhere. I doubt you’d need both. If you just want to carry more, go ahead.

How you liking that Bernard Rinkhals? Been eyein that thing for a while and thinking of pickin one up.

That is actually an Arno Bernard iMamba. Its fantastic. However, I do also have a Rinkhals, and they are no slouch. I like mine a lot. Excellent little slipjoint, and the boys at AB pay attention to the little details.

Ahh gotcha, didn't notice the size so I assumed it was the Rinkhals. Thanks for the quick review, this might just push me over the edge.

I appreciate the comments and thoughts. I like how knife people range from those who like the blades that give them the most for minimum carry and those who carry many for their specialized use. I guess I am not sure which I am because I like both :) to breakdown why I carry what I do, and read thoughts from others: My custom bowie is my 'if I only had one knife' survival knife, but because some places don't like a big knife on their patrons (and I then move it to my car), I carry my Kabar Mule clipped in my pocket for an alternative survival knife that isn't big and obvious (and its serrated section is often an appreciated and used element in daily life). I have my Condor Bushlore because I think it is more suited to knife applications within its range use than the bowie for bushcraft, which is why I have the omniblade in my backpack (for its hatchet and saw and the kukri blade for if I needed to clear stuff), the Condor Otzi I like for small blade utility (its only like a 2in blade) and the homage to the iceman's knife (because I like knives and even though its not flint it has that look with the usability of steel), my boker magnum rustic knife is a good traditional pocket knife that I use in those ways and as a beater to let others use when they need a knife (but I do keep it taken care of), and my John Deere multitool, although it has a saw and knife I like because of the other tools it has that I may need and use. I am not uncomfortable with all of them, I use all of them, and I like all of them. I guess because I also like the idea of carrying minimal blades and know several can overlap in use and I don't necessarily need all of them, I'm wondering which would be the best few to carry to cover all needs and wonder what you guys would suggest (because I may switch my carry habits, though I might not).
