OK Hogs, between the three pictured knives, if you had to choose only one, which one would it be and why? These are all spectacular knives in their own right, but when compared together, each definitely has its pros and cons.

  • The contenders:

    Busse Battle Saw
  • Combat Grade black crinkle coat, black and tan G10
  • High saber grind with CBT, 11" blade, 16.5" OAL, 0.24" thick INFI, 25.9oz

    Busse Fusion Battle Mistress
  • Aged Bronze Cerakote, canvas micarta
  • High saber grind with CBT, 10" blade, 16" OAL, 0.24" thick INFI, 26.9oz

Busse Nuclear Meltdown Fusion Steel Heart
  • B.I.G. finish, black and yellow G10
  • Full height flat grind, 9.5" blade, 15.5" OAL, 0.31" thick INFI, 28.2oz

Pics (what would a thread like this be without pics? ;)):

Helluva tough decision, isn't it? ;) Also, don't bother sending me a PM, they're not for sale (and not mine either, for that matter...), and I won't answer offers.

Discuss! :D

Oh yeah,

Let's Drink!!! :D

I just love the looks of it.

I'd have to go with the NMGSH, that thing's beautiful (not that the others aren't), I like the CBT and profile of the FBM as well, personally not a fan of cerakoted knives though.
Not super helpful since I've never handed any of them...

Don't have/never handled the Battle saw, but between the other two I prefer the handle on the BM. The circumference of the SH is just a hair too big for my hands and also prefer the weight:length of the Mistress.

I agree with LADAMS 19.

This has been the industry's PROVEN PERFORMER for the last bunch of years . (Notice how I threw in the whole proof/proven word play ?)

That knife is a monster capable of covering the jobs of many other tools. Although you would play hob trying to use it to remove a quill from a cholla cactus.

Anyhow,that is my vote.

well said. Its just a great all around blade, great blade geometry, and a proven combination of style, material and comfort in use.

Battlesaw.

I've had all 3, currently only have the BS. I like the straight handle better than the fusion handle for a user. The CGFBM was awesome but let it go and kept the BS instead (also has cbt but longer & no swedge). The only NMFSH I had was .31" also, I'd probably like it more if I could get a .25" ish one.
I like all three, but the BS wins- good handles, weight, balance thickness, has CBT, and has a saw.

Both the bronze CGFBM and BIG NMFSH were a bummer to sell (hope to replace them someday)-but I'll probably never sell my BS

If I had to pick --- I'd pick this . . . Although I could easily take the NMFSH and be content forever. The Battle Saw looks bad a$$ and would make a great chopper. In the end --- whichever you choose --- you win

FBM... on aesthetics alone. While the FFG on the NMFSH is great, the G10 colors are not to my liking. FBM, and I wouldn't look back.

Having handled a copy of all of the options, I'm having a tough time with the decision, and what my advice would be. I don't have a FBM right now, but have the other two. I've had LOTS of time with my NMFSH, and I love it dearly. It does everything well, but is a tad heavier and thicker than the other two.

I only got the Battle Saw a month or so ago, so haven't had a lot of time with it yet, but I'm already very impressed with it. My only issue/gripe with it is the small handle, which hurts my big hand a bit after a lot of chopping, but it handles nicely and the sawbuck actually works pretty well. With the CoG a bit further forward on the blade vs. the FBM, it chops a little bit better. The FBM does seem like a good compromise between the other two here, but the NMFSH is so close to the FBM in size, it makes it a really difficult decision.

CGFBM hands down. It's what caught my attention back in '08 and it's still my favorite knife 8 years later. Chops like crazy yet can more-or-less do other camp chores a smaller knife would normally be used for. The CBT and Fusion handle give it the sexiest look of any Busse to date.

In your situation, I would use the top two and figure out which one works best for my hand in real world application. That's the winner. ;)

Battle Saw is my vote. Weight is perfect and lightest of the three, thickness is perfect for slicing yet sturdy enough to chop. It also looks the meanest on the block. The Saw teeth no matter how useful they are can be used for several unorthodox uses, like blade catches, barbed wire breakers, scoring bone to get at marrow, ect...and it offers the longest blade out of the three...

Battle Saw wins this hands down.

CGFBM is my all time fave. I have a MOBOLO and FBMle in the stable, and the CGFBM gets the most love so far hands down... Don't have a battle saw and I sold all my Fsh models as they felt a bit on the lite side of how I like my choppers!

Cgfbm.

I'm still regretting selling my customized Fbmle.

The battle saw is awesome looking, but for my hand size I think I prefer the fusion handle.

I have all three, and there's not a loser in the bunch! Tough decision, but if I had to choose only one it would be the Cerakoted FBM.:thumbup:

I own all three and have had different versions of both the bottom 2. Battle saw is the winner in my experience. The balance is perfect. I don't even care about the saw teeth although they do look cool. It just swings so much more efficiently than the FBM and the NMFSH. I like the FBM a lot but I think the Battle Saw works more efficiently. Maybe it's the 11" blade. I wish the FBM was 11" instead of 10.

I've never been a fan of the NMFSH. I've wanted to love it but just couldn't. I currently have the fat version and for me, it's even worse than the regular. I like fat blades for fun but for practical purposes, thin is in.

Based on my experience with two of the three, I'd have to say that I would take the NMFSH. I've only used one fusion handle that I liked, and it was standard scale size, so I'd sand down the mags to s comfier fit. IMO, for wood processing the NMFSH is king due to the full height flat grind and thickness.

Already went with the NMFSH
Black with Black/Tan G10
Couldn't be happier😊😊👍👌🍺🍻
