Which one of these beasts would YOU choose, and why?

The FBM has the greatest appeal to me. I like the length, weight, thickness and handle profile. I also love the look. The FBM is high on my wishlist.

I've had 2 of 3 of those and I'd go with the battle saw, weight to size ratio makes it the most efficient for chopping and after all that's what these type of knives are for.

I have only used the CGFBM and a fat NMFSH out of the three.
The fat NMFSH is very heavy and from my point of view it is best suited for hard batoning.
It can go through pretty much everything without a problem. As already mentioned the rounded spine is easy on batons.

Of course it can be used for chopping, however I found it to tire my arm out really quickly. I love it, it truly is a tank...

The CGFBM on the other hand is a quite lite and versatile blade to my mind.
It feels very nimble and extremely well balanced in hand. It doesnt wear your arm out as quickly as well.

Here besides my modded BK9:

I also was quite surprised on how well it does on feathersticks, but I guess you could do even better with it...

The CGFBM will split the same logs as the NMFSH however I find the quite thick FSH to do better at this task.

To conclude I have to say that I would take the FBM over the fat Steel Heart due to the fact that its a lot more versatile and feels more neutral in the hand. It carries easier also, I am hoping to get my BuyBrown Kydex soon.

I don't have any of them. The closest i have is a Sykco 11-11. If I could get one I would pick the CGFBM. I like the looks of it the best.

The 1111 is a beast of a user....I definately have no issue grabbing my 1111 for ANY chopping task.

Great pics and comments ILabrador -- hard to argue with your experience. Love and respect the hard use on that NMFSH!

I had an FSH but found it heavy for its length. Though I didn't come close to using it as you have, I can see how it would be great for batoning. Never owned a CGFBM but it's considered a classic. Tough to argue with the CGFBM against any big Busse or other knife.

NMFSH, I have one and like the blade shape more than the BM. Just seems like it would do everything and a little more than the BM.

CGFBM. IMO, best all-arounder of the 3, middle of the pack weight wise, and it doesn't have the NM treatment which makes it easier to use a firestarter.

Excellent commentary everyone! Some great points being made here!!! If it was me, I would take Andy's advice and keep all three! :D  But not everyone collects, and one large user Busse is enough for some.

All around chopping I would go FBM as the handle seems a lot more comfortable with the e-ish handle shape.
I have chopped with a FBM several times.

For all around camp chores I would go Battle Saw.
beside looking cool, the saw will let you do pretty precision notching.
And the teeth will open stubborn Root beer bottles ;)

but for chopping The Battle Saw has more of a straight handle feel, I guess the new improved straight handle ?
It still has a little pinky bite but I have "Dave Brown" hands.

so chopping would go to the FBM and all around to the Battle Saw.

If I could only choose one................Battle Saw

plus you can make a cool sheath like this for the Battle Saw :)
(well I guess I could for any knife but it looks cooler with the teeth)

David, you surprised me here. You have bigger hands than I do, so I would have thought the Battle Saw would have been your last choice with the smaller handle. Interesting...

Ditto!!!! Hope it makes an appearance soon on the 2 week offering! Those are all some beautiful blades!!!

fbm. antique bronze is sweet. Of the three, only one I have used is a cgfbm. is the thickness of a bs similar to a bwm?

Very similar. My stripped cgfbm is .24", the battle saw coated is just over .24". The overall length is very similar, you get much better handle ergos with the CGFBM in trade for a little more blade with the BS. Thus why I said earlier to pick the one that your hand likes best in real use.

What is interesting about the NMFSH is how the sweet spot is lower or more angled downward from the handle than the CGFBM. You have to line up the handles perfectly to see it in person as it is hard to capture with a camera, but it is almost a 1/4" lower. That may improve your result with chopping depending on technique.

SO many pros and cons for each! Thanks for highlighting yet another one!

I´ve only used the NMFSH and the bronze CGFBM out of the three.
For me the bronze CGFBM feels better in my hand and in over all handling as well.

I've handled exactly none of these so my . 02 cents is based on specs and appearance alone. I would have to say the Battle Saw would be my first choice from a tactical practical standpoint. First it is the lightest of the 3 options and in a bug out/survival situation where great distances might have to be covered, every ounce counts. Secondly, it has saw teeth which gives it a slight advantage in scope and breadth of applications such as notching wood or cutting pieces of wood where a flat end surface would be more desirable. Third, the area between the first saw tooth and the handle looks like a good spot to strip and put a sharp 90 degree edge on for firesteel striking. Fourth and this is my personal preference only, the Straight handle seems like it would be more comfortable in my hands. That being said though, all three would serve you well in bug out scenario.

One last thing I just noticed is that the pommel on the Battle Saw seems better suited to hammering tent pegs in then the rather pointed pommels on the other two.
