Which PM2 variant is your favorite?

Satirically Edited.

“But its a handbag!!

That being said, the PM2 handbag is an awesome user.

Prior to getting one, I thought it odd looking.
More so, than my other purses.

Bought one to see, what all the hype was about.

It instantly won out over other handbags, when I reached for a purse to use.

An amazing purse. User friendly and light weight quality handbag.

Id never thought, it would make me use the Chanel, Gucci etc less but it does easily.

IMO if could have only one (the horror!) purse, the PM2 handbag would be it - just my opinion of course.”

Now we’re talking!
You’re right, that was fun.

Maybe I’m an oddball but I really like knives with patina on the blade. I know the pm2 has an m4 and 52100 versions, were those the only 2 non-stainless blades? Does Maxamet patina?
Also, anybody have an m4 or 52100 version they’d like to sell me?

In answer to your question about Maxamet, yes, it will take on a patina. I have a Manix 2 in Maxamet that has a faint patina starting, despite not being used a whole lot.

See, I told ya':D:D

Dont hesitate, buy that handbag!!

Its the right one for you.

The blue should go well with your blue jeans.
:D:D:D
Ohh dear, havent laughed that much in a while ... ! :D

My biggest surprise was I didn’t like how it looked with blue jeans. Go figure. Aside from that, really cool blue.

I honestly didnt mean any offense - just thought it all funny.:D:D

Ill quit and let my self out now....

Which steel do you guys suggest for me?

I bought a PM1 which i really like and am looking at getting a PM2. 80% of my cutting is cutting cardboard, 10 food and 10% misc like rope and plastic.

I live in Holland, 10 miles from sea, so not very sure about a non stainless. But it's not a very humid place.

Personally, I dont give a hoot in this instance but IIRC, you are not supposed to make a 'fake quote' signing somebody elses name in GeeDee.

Im not a 100% on this and again, feel free, I dont mind - cant take the smoke, dont make the joke ... or something to that effect.

Its just an FYI/heads-up for your own sake.

I was unaware, but I can see why. No harm done I suppose. I’ll edit it down. All in good fun. You really do have a point though on the knife/purse comparison.

I seem to remember, it was so due some unfortunate instances but again, not sure.

Im fine with your post and actually thought it quite funny and very much in the spirit of my own post.

You can still joke and write 'Bladescout said' or something in front of the text - its just the outright fake quote, that I seem to remember being a no-no (not sure. A MOD would have to chime in but I havent 'summoned' any:)).

Back to han...., I mean PM2s:D

Blue M390 is the only one I have or have ever had. My first Millie is in the mail as we speak

My S30V in good company.

Its humble compared to some of the knives in this thread but gets the job done.

There are several PM2s, that Id like - the Maxamet and carbon versions amongst them.

But thats not in the books right now.

Just recently bought some other knives.

The insanity will have to stop (....or so I keep telling myself).

For you I would aim for M390, S35VN, or S30V off top of my head would be best steels for your use that it is or has been available in.

You will be fine with S90V or S110V I think but not sure it would be worth it and iirc they are less corrosion resistant then the others and your proximity to the sea I would expect corrosion to be a larger risk.

S90V and S110V are highly corrosion-resistant. Those would be the steels I would like to take anywhere around water, or ocean spray.

IIRC S30V and S35VN are more corrosion resistant and I am fairly certain M390 is as well.

how do 440C and 14C28N stack up? i haven't had problems with those staining.

Ultimately I would trust any stainless steel with proper care and maintenance in those conditions and to those tasks. I would just make sure to add a light coat of mineral oil to the blades to help aid in preventing any corrosion.
