Which RAT do I need?

Any of the RC knives would do for backpacking. It depends on what size knife you want to carry. I would think the RC-3 would do for 99% of the backpackers out there. It's the best cutter of them all, and the lightest.

You're gonna be fine with a Izula for backpackin'. It's your wits that save you in a situation... but the blade helps.

Izzy does fine... but i prefer a little length for most tasks.

The RC-6 anytime. Light enough, long enough, thick enough, thin enough. it could be better without the finger choil.

another vote for the hest. i have an izula and really digging that knife but when it came to chosing one for backpacking/camping i ordered the hest(and will get to put it thru its paces in a week). certainly inpart because i already have many fixed knives of various sizes and i was seriously thinking the rc3 but decided with the extra capabilities of the hest that would be the smarter place to put my money. tho i will be taking more than one knife with me next week. in reality i dont think you could go wrong with any of the rc knives. isnt it fun!
