Which Sak to get

I always carry a super tinker or fieldmaster. mostly fieldmaster due to saw.

I'm a fan of the compact because of the inclusion of scissors. if you want something super thin the Alox Cadet is hard to beat. I think that all SAKs need scissors so a Alox Pioneer X is also a great choice.

For under $20, I'd recommend the Recruit. On a good day you can find them for ~$15. I have mine on me every day. As long as you don't try to cut down a tree with it, it'll last a lifetime.

I keep an older Minichamp on my keys. If you can find a used one, they're ridiculously useful little buggers. There's always someone with a cigar box full of Classics at the local gun and knife show for $5. You might get lucky and find a Minichamp in the mix.

I have always wanted to get a ask but just never have. And I figure since most of the time right now because of being sick and not able to work right now, something smaller would fit my needs for the moment. So when I have the extra cash definitely want to get a sak. I appreciate all the suggestions keep an coming

Manager on the keys, Alox Pioneer or Cadet in the pocket. I bought an Alox Pioneer X as well for the scissors and it’s a great knife but is another layer thicker than the standard pioneer.

I prefer the Leatherman Micra as a pocket companion for a larger EDC knife. I prefer the more robust shears which easily cut through zip ties. I also like that it can be opened full length when using the knife blade or screw driver blades. Easier for me to handle with my XL sized hands. I also have found the Micra to be more durable than any of the Victorinox products I've owned.
Thanks for playing. However, the OP did not ask what Leatherman you would recommend. Do you have a SAK recommendation?

I also love the One Hand Trekker, but my Huntsman gets lots of pocket time, as well.

Rancher or Pioneer - I love the little hawk/pruner-blade on the Rancher, but the Philips-driver does come in handy on the can-opener of the Pioneer... plus, the latter comes in all manner of color options :

I recently acquired a Gerber Dime multi-tool. It is small enough to put on your key chain. It is the same length as a SAK Classic. It has decent plain edge blade. The older ones are around $15. The newer ones have tweezers. The only downside is that they are very stiff. Most Gerber multitools are.

I say start with a recruit and see if there is something it's missing (or if it's perfect as is)

The Spartan is popular. I tend to not use a cork screw and as a result choose a different model. The Tinker tool set is my favorite overall. I do own a Spartan. I assembled it myself under the direction of the Vic Rep at a knife store during one of their events.
