Which sharpening system for INFI blades?

As the title states. With all the high end knives I have, I need a decent, foolproof system, which I can invest about $300 bucks for sharpening (INFI) and other metals! I have tried using the search button and found lots of old threads in regards to this. I also tried doing this the old fashioned way. I bought some cheap knives, and tried going at them by hand with a Whetstone, but I don't have the skill and confidence with myself to try them on my expensive knives. Any help will be greatly appreciated my fellow HOGS. Thanks in advance for your time.

I use three methods at this point:

1) I've been using Flexxx Strops with various compounds for edge maintenance.

2) Spyderco Sharpmarker for slightly more attention to V grinds (I convert most of my edges to convex). Useful for most pocket knives and some Busse that I keep in original V grinds.

3) For blades in serious need of reprofiling, I use Worksharp Ken Onion Edition. I love having the different types of grit belts to customize my edge. Just need to make sure to keep the blade cool. Touch ups take me seconds with this one.

I’ve been using flexxstropes, sharpmaker, DMT stones & kit. Also have a Razors edge kit and various stones and Lansky kit.
But I’ve been looking into wicked edge and edge pro and that Russian (?) sharpener.

I have a strop with various compounds it does the work when I need to give it a nice clean up. I also looked hard at the Spyderco sharpmaker. For the price it seems like a great choice. Only gripe is reprofiling of the blade. Now in regards to the work sharp, I don't know much about this system? I know there are 2 versions. The ken onion and original. Which of the 2 you have? Thanks for message

I've used the Spyderco sharp maker. I need to put an edge on it again, might see if my ash2 fits on the edge pro. But thinking about putting a convex on it, not sure though.

The Worhsharp guided system for $50 has impressed me. It is easy to use, Versatile, takes up very little space and quick to set up.

I also own the Wicked Edge, Ken Onion work sharp with attachment, Spyderco sharpmaker and Dmt bench stones. Wow, I have spent way too much cash on sharpening systems. Ha ha.

The great thing about the steels Busse uses are they are easy to sharpen and maintain. Info and Sr101 respond well to stropping.

I'm definitely contemplating the WE system. It's just too damn pricey .

Which of these do you find to be the easiest to use? And by easiest, I mean not to screw up the knife. Thanks for your response and time

I use the Wicked Edge Field Model for reprofiling.
For edge maintenance after obtaining desired profile, a butcher steel seems to do great, although I do throw them back on the WE from time to time.
Rarely use a freehand stone. Only time in recent memory was when I was using my BGBB13 to go through metal (old swing set) and had a slight edge roll which was on SR-101 obviously.

I use to feel this way for a long time. Then I realized that for what I spend on one knife I could have a sharpening system that would give me angles on all my knives that would be nigh impossible for me to obtain otherwise due to time/ability constraints.

I do realize this is totally subjective and some people would rather just have the extra knife but it was how I justified another knife related purchase to myself.

However I totally believe in hand sharpening and am always practicing:thumbsup:

Ken Onion for me. It has a variable angle setting that allow you to change your angle of profile for each blade. I dig the heck out of it. I can get my knives stupid sharp with it. Tree topping hair sharp.

I started out reprofiling cheap Frost Cutlery knives to practice before moving up to more expensive blades. There is a tiny learning curve, but very manageable.

If I could only have one of my sharpening systems it would be the Wicked Edge. It is very efficient for not being powered by electricity. It gets blades so sharp, it’s crazy.

I use the Ken Onion to re-profile quickly or on a large blade. I like the Work sharp guided system simply because it works well and is easily packable.

Ultimately, I try to practice freehand on my Dmt stones but still have a ways to go.

i have tried numerous systems including Edge Pro, Lanskey, and Wicked Edge. As of now, the WE is my favorite. Easy to touch-up edges and even more useful when re-profiling. However, the largest blade I have done with my WE is my TGLB. I have a NMFBM on the way so we will see how that does in my WE. Overall, I am very impressed with the WE. If my NMFBM does not fit well in my WE I will use my Edge Pro.

Do you mind me asking which WE do you currently have? They have so many models and so many different prices.... I just want something that works right off the bat, even if it's going to cost a bit more. Any recommendations on WE models?
