Which Spyderco are you carrying today?

Along with a Traditional knife, I'll be carrying this gray Delica 4 that came in the mail yesterday.

Although I like this knife very much, I would have preferred a chrome or satin clip with this knife instead of the black clip provided. A chrome or satin clip would have matched the rest of the hardware - blade, screws, lock bar, etc.. Just my .02¢

I'm thinking that I'll remove the clip, sand it down, and polish it to a satin finish.

Since I posted the above pictures of my new Gray Delica 4, I've been to town, had Clam Chowder, returned home, sanded a spare clip I had on hand, and installed it in place of the black clip that came on the knife.

I've got some final polishing to do on the modified (sanded) satin clip but for my liking, I think the satin clip fits in best with the overall knife - especially the knife's hardware and blade.

K390 Delica. Nothing fancy, but it's the favorite folder I've carried (and I've owned a bunch of 'em, many much more expensive). I've also got a Cruwear Delica, but I haven't used it yet.

PS - You don't really need to mustard patina it. It does it on its own with a little use.
Only reason I want to force a patina is because I had two knives (albeit in M4) I carried and used them for construction type work, they rusted up more than I liked and no patina. So to prevent that I'd rather just force the patina. My other K390 knife a PM2 I used vinegar, gonna try mustard this time.

You could, and I've done so on other tool steels and I don't regret it a bit, but speaking from experience that k390 will manage just fine on its own.
Since the release of the K390 df2 I've had it on me at and off work, and I do (the English term for it escapes me, landscaping?) anyway, I've had the df2 on me pretty much every day and in every kind of weather. And it's seen it's share of work, cutting through half a cm thick rubber bands they use to make sure trees grow upright in suburban areas, to cutting through a few hundred strings holding various species of fauna at site where we're tasked to preserve some green in our city. I'm pretty hands on and I like to work as hard and smart as I can and I demand the same of the tools I use.
Hell, all the maintenance I've done to the df2 is setting a new bevel only up till 1100 grit on diamond resin stones to get that aggressive teethy edge. For my purposes it cuts way better then say a highly polished fine edge and aside from that I'd blow all the sand and grit out of the knife with a compressor before heading back home. For all this I would have expected far worse but save for some patina forming unequally here and there that thing hold its own remarkably well. I'll add a pic later on if you want.

Now, I almost completely talked myself out of getting the endura till that picture of yours. I only own a few folders in that size category, of which only 2 are worth mentioning. A pakkawood endura which I love and got me fixed on the prospect of that in a lighter fashion with K390, and a cruwear military. I love them both and convinced myself I didht need another but theres something to be said for having so much premium quality cutting edge in such a lightweight package that I can make a reasonable argument for it compared to the other 2 knives I mentioned. I usually carry something more heavy duty and throw the df2 in there but I ended up using it most of the time so it makes sense to only have the endura on me seeing as K390 already far surpassed my expectations in the df format. Plus it's a better cutting tool then the 940 s90v due to its edge geometry, not knocking the 940-1 though. It's a beast.

Went more lightweight for sunrise carry today. I get a cool looking, but temporary cold induced patina that starts developing at around 15 degrees and gets more purple/black the colder it gets, more so on the H1. As soon as the blades warm back up the colors disappear.

Awesome! Would love to see more photos of that purple dark color change. Do you think though if those freezing temps might effect the heat treat on the blades?
