Which Spyderco to get?

There are three fine choices you have there and any knife you'll choose I'm sure it will serve you well.
I don't share the "take model X sprint run because you won't find it later" approach because in time even better variations will come; besides, the regular ones aren't bad at all.
I'd say just pick the knife that hits your fancy the most and use it happily ;)

If I was in your situation, I would get the sprint run manix 2 since I can always get the others later. Since the sprint is in limited numbers, availability may be a problem if you decide later that it is what you want. I'm not really a fan of the manix 2 platform but you can always sell it later for not much loss if you decide it's not for you.
+1

Whenever the choice is between a Sprint and a regular production model or two, and you like them all but have no strong preference for one over the other, go with the Sprint.

Take a look at the Pacific Salt. I just got one and I know it's going to get tons of pocket time. All the appeal of an Endura but lighter and with an older (better) handle. Best of all, this thing is water proof. From what I've read on this forum and others it will not rust. This makes it a natural for a wetter environment and requires less upkeep than similar blades.

I like it far better than the Military or even my Enduras.

ill second the military. but i also have the sprint manix and cant say enough for it. its a badass knife. and the price is not outrageous for the product. great steel, great edge retnention, takes an edge good, and feels great in the hand. its hard to beat.

I have a Manix 2, a Millie, and several Para 2's among others. They are all excellent but if I could only have one, it would be the Para 2. Best production knife ever made and a bargain, imo.

thats how i feel about the military. imo, spyderco in general make the best knives for the money. cant go wrong with any of them.

If I could only keep one folding knife, it would be my Paramilitary 2.

Lightweight
Easy to clean flow through construction
practical and usable blade shape
excellent ergonomics
bushing pivot

Man... This thread just makes me want to buy another one. Come on M390 sprint.

I agree with this. If you're dead set on getting the BD30 steel, then the sprint Manix 2 is a must. But that particular steel isn't anything too spectacular and with the regularity with which Manix 2 sprints arrive, I'd expect a cooler sprint run steel to show up in the near future. I have a Manix 2 (XHP sprint) and the Sage I, but find myself carrying the Sage far more often than the Manix 2. I guess most of my cutting chores are lighter duty, so I like the reduced pocket space the Sage takes up. If you're going heavy duty, I'd pass on the Sage for now and get the Manix 2 or Para 2. I don't have a Para 2 yet, but got one of the M390/blue G-10 sprints on preorder.

I edc a sage two and love it, by far the nicest knife i have ever owned. That being said I would advise you to checking out the sage 2 (I love the Ti) just to see what you think. However the most popular of the three mentioned is probably the para 2.... but i don't own one so im still voting sage.

In any case you will be happy with the knife you get, Spyderco is an awesome knife company and they make great stuff!

You can find a sprint run Walker CF for that price. It is very light and thin and carries well. It will probably hold its value too. Great knife!

Or consider a CF Delica. They are hard to find, but can be found in your price range. Another great knife that carries well and will hold its value.

I have both a Para 2 and the Manix 2 sprint you're asking about.

Both great knives, no plans to sell or trade either, probably ever.

Briefly though, the Para 2 is noticably lighter, it also takes up less room in the pocket, and the grip is a little more versatile and comfotable, and the Manix possibly a bit more secure. The Para 2 tip is very very fine, the Manix 2 has a bit more meat behind it. Para 2 due to the pivot system they use a prone to a tiny tiny amound of side play. If that would bug you a lot you might want to opt for the manix as it is the most rock solid lockup i've ever seen. It literally feels like a fixed blade when deployed, it has that little blade movement. Both locking systems are awesome and quite strong, the para is a bit easier to disengage, and deploys a little faster.

A Sage is on my short list to get next, but I'm leaning heavily toward the Sage 3 which sports the awesome bolt action lock.

My vote is for the Sage 1 in carbon fiber. Great design, ergonomics are about perfect and s30V about sum it up. It is smooth but all at this price will be. It comes down to size of carry preference and type of lock design that you prefer. So think those things out and you'll win with either one you choose.

Just a side note about that particular Manix sprint: it has a more aggressive pattern on the g-10 that is harder on pants.

Having all three knives you are considering, I would recommend the Para 2.

Gayle Bradley would be my first choice, then the Para2. The para I think would make a much better EDC than the others mentioned, I have had them all and prefer the Para2 over the others mentioned.

Manix 2 here. I really like the Para, except for that compression lock. Otherwise, it would be a draw between those two.
