Just found this thread... I know...late to the party, I’m that guy!:) Anyway, I open my knives wrong. ;) I hold the handle in my right hand and pinch the blade with my left of course, and then swing the handle open. I don’t own a single blade I can’t pinch open in this way. I do the same for multiple blades, I just use my left nail to start it. I hope this doesn’t ruin our friendship John!
:D:D:D

Don’t worry, you’re doing it right.

Open your knives any way you want, just don't call them "slippies".

Is that the next poll/thread? :D (Don’t worry, I’m 100% on your side with that one.)

The first step is admitting you have a problem. ;)

Never! Open your knives any way you want, just don't call them "slippies".

I shouldn't let that term bother me, but it's mostly used by the "modern" guys that haven't embraced the traditional culture yet.
Are you saying that you don't deploy your dammy wharnie slippie like a lefty? Alrighty, then.

I need some help here. Try as I might, I cannot figure out how to open this knife with my thumbnail. Neither the right nor left works.

I found that i can open a few gec knives the mike latham way but when i got to the 2020 forum knife, no way. I had to go back through youtube and see if even mike did it. He did. No problem. Not only that but his thumb pads dont look callused at all, they look rather smooth.
