What’s also interesting on the “L” versions is that folding the blade to the rest (closed) position, is just as challenging. Opening a stiff folder is one thing, closing it is a completely different matter altogether.

It’s like you’ve been spying on me! That’s excatly how I did it the time I got tangled in my rope and I was skipping across the pasture on my butt at the speed of a racing cow (which is a lot faster than you might realize). And you’re right, when I got that rope cut, it was one of the great moments of my day.:D

 :D

Good reason to carry a supplementary fixed blade ;)

I was actually trying to say it wasn't long enough!
you were really...
(wait for it...)
Russian it.

:D :D

I can't believe what I'm reading!!! OF COURSE you open the blade with you right thumbnail! o_O :p :D

Surprisingly, I have a video too! Sent this to a gentleman a couple of years back. He said the knife had a fault and couldn't be opened. I suggested oiling, and blowing out the joint, but he insisted it had a mechanical fault, and it was impossible to open. Here it is straight out of the envelope it was returned in, opened with thumbnail, and pinched

A trip through the mail system will loosen up most joints, I expect. :D:D:D

I can admire a fella that takes time to appreciate the finer things in life, especially while dirt skiing behind intellectually challenged bovine :D

I've used "Mike's Method' many times... mostly just to freak out my sons. ;)

Don't use the CK method when you're drunk and the knife is upside down. Or so I have heard.

I tried the @knifeswapper method on a new Remington R103...I swear, I couldn't put an ounce of force on it without the fear of slicing through my soft, delicate, desk hands. If I ever have to spend a night in jail...:(

Im going to start with “im sorry”...

Do you know what thumbnail a flipper uses?

.... the one he takes off a dealer website...

(I dont recall if something like this was already posted)

It's better than the one he takes off his latest victim!
We all know flippers don't actually open knives- they just put them in shipping boxes.

... For real though, we've been having a lot of fun here today, but all flippers are serial killers who don't open knives.

slow down and enjoy the process. It's the best part about using a traditional slip-joint knife.

Amen my friend, you are so right  :)
We all need to slow down from our hectic lifestyles and enjoy the moment, live more in the present . Our traditional slipjoints knives helps us do just that !
Nothing like slowly eating an apple with your traditional carbon steel knife while leaning against the trunk of shady tree on a hot summer day with not a worry in the world !

STILL …

I have a deep sense of satisfaction in knowing that I am the fastest traditional slipjoint knife opener in the whole of Porchemberg  ( and a "right" thumper at that )

If I am so fast with our 86 2019 porch knife … can you even imagine how fast I'll be with our upcoming one ? :D
