Recommendation? Which would you buy?!

You might like a Cold Steel recon spear point in CTS-XHP small version, they are tough and hold an edge very well. I use a regular size almost every day hard on my ranch. Its held up extremely well to substantial abuse.

Well put my friend ! It seems I've fallen in love with my PM2..after cutting about 200 ft of romex sheathing I couldn't be happier with the results. Sadly after all of these awesome replies and whatnot I still can't justify buying anything ..I REALLY wanted to like Emerson knives but I just can't find anything that tickles my fancy.
I'm going to cross my fingers as I look up the review on the GB2.

The PM2 is great, and as you know, Romex sheathing isn't an easy material to cut. Especially if it's dirty and dusty, that only adds more abrasives that dull your edge!

The GB2 is a great choice. I have a 1st gen GB and it is the closest thing to a Sebenza for under $200...Seriously!!!

Emersons are not bad, but I feel that there are better options for the price that's asked. If an Emerson really grabs your attention though, I don't think you'll be let down. I see that most people around here either love them or hate them. In my neutral opinion I can understand both sides.

I'd reccomend a Spyderco Endura in ZDP-189.

I own many knives that some may consider "glamorous" and I've been carrying a ZDP Endura for months now. They just work so well and are relatively cheap.
I have used the Endura with zdp189 on and off for years. That knife is a worker and is one of the best bargains on the market.
Actually that s the knife that got me interested in high level folders about 10 years ago. It s still in my carry rotation. It covers my needs of a working knife.

Haven't heard of any hot spot issues on the GB 1 or 2. Have heard many members raving about it though!! One of the best work knives in Spydie's, or anyone's, stable.
If you don't like it though, forget it.
You can watch all the reviews on You Tube you can find, but you'll get real world usage experience right here. From people without an agenda.
Some great work knives, HVAC, I've used in the last 3 years are: Spydie Manix 2 s30v, Pac Salt serrated, Native 110v, Para 2 s30v & Benchmade 665 154cm.
Good luck choosing!

Alright alright maybe all the reviews on YouTube about the GB2 are just opiontated ?
For some reason my eyes have fallen for the BM Crooked River..and I'm not even a redneck..lol. I just wish they would up on the exchange more often..I'm searching and the threads quickly jump to 2016 which isn't a good sign :/

There you go:

As far as the aforementioned Endura in ZDP-189, I love that steel. Had it in me dragonfly 2.

Cold Steel American Lawman. Super thin and light, excellent steel (CTS-XHP), the strongest lock in the business, great ergos, and under $100 dollars.

@Cory Hess it's too late man..after my first "high quality" knife there was no turning back I think I'll stop at 5. Maybe one for each day of the week lol.

Thanks for all the replies by the way guys..

That's what I said to myself at first as well. Just five would be enough........ I've never been so wrong in my life before.

Emerson (CQC7A or 7B, Bulldog, micro-Commander), Viper (Odino, Fortis), Cold Steel and Kershaw (too many to mention) all make knives in your size/weight/price range that would give you a different brand & steel to try out.

Yes! OP, what about a fixed blade? My life wouldn't be "full" or "rewarding" without a fixed blade or 12! :(:p
Mannnn...I just don't think I could ever be a fixed blade kind of guy..to me a fixed blade means your taking the family out to some camp ground widiling tinder to makeshift a bow and arrow for your son and teaching him how to hunt game in the Red Wood Forest lol.

By the way takes again for all the replies guys. Just because I don't quote you specifically doesn't mean I don't value your suggestion any more or less than others.

Great community here on BF!

I'm really liking my recently acquired Hogue X5 but the BionicXL has moved into my pocket/hand for now. I suggest looking at both of these and I'll throw in a vote for the GB1 as well, after some tweaks I love mine even more than I did new.

Any Tri-Ad lock Cold Steel folder with CTS-XHP steel. Top quality in every respect, affordable. My favorites are the American Lawman and Recon 1 (drop point) models, but there are several others in the same general category.
