ANY ANGLERS IN THE GROUP?
Tell me about it. I love to fish locally here in Illinois and fish for Bass, Bluegills, Crappies and Channel cats mostly, with some seasonal Lake Michigan shore salmon fishing mixed in. Strip Mine ponds, Kankakee River and Wolf Lake are common destinations, my job of running a tackle shop actually prevents me from being gone for more than a couple of days to venture very far. Thinking about a Stainless JK fillet knife design, any input?

The last time I fished was at a gathering down by Andy`s house. It was "survival fishing", all you could use was what fit in an Altoids tin. As for stainless fillet knives, the only stainless I can get in 1/16" thickness is 440C, everything else starts at 3/32".

Did someone say fish? I love to fish! I mostly kayak fish in my local lakes here in Northern California for large and small mouth bass. I've since moved from keeping catch to sport fishing so I have little use for a fillet knife these days. However, John's fin and feather looks like it would fit the bill for panfish although I'm sure he could modify it to suit larger species.

we er...fish, sure. Well we try, mostly at the pond on our road, we're not very good but we enjoy it,

The knife is a lot higher grade then the fishing equipment :)

last summer Andy even sent us some things to try and get better

I grew up fishing Mo. and IL. And was very fortunate to move to NM. were I operate a small fishing lodge and guide business on the Rio Costilla fishing for Rio Grande Cutts.

Love to fish. Mostly trout, bass, perch, crappie, unfortunately squawfish (northern pikeminnow). Several good lakes in the area. Really only bass fish when out with someone with a boat that bass fishes. Get to ice fish every now and then.

I used to fish all the time. I have rigs for regular spinning rods, but I really enjoy fly fishing. I especially enjoy top water fishing with surface poppers.

I used to go fishing with my dad, but he doesn't get around very well anymore . My son has gone fishing with me some, but he doesn't really enjoy it like I do.

About the only time I go out now is a deep sea trip once a year. :(

I don't fish nearly as often as I would like but I am home every weekend now and just bought a 14ft aluminum fishing boat so...:D
...Yeah, I'd be interested.

I was supposed to start my own thread with these but here they are:

Toby's Knife vs 2 with thumb serrations and bocote, if I remember correctly. Lanyard added on my own following, I believe, Peter's instructions that he posted.

The links take you to larger pictures. I don't remember how to code it so that you see the thumbnail and automatically link to a larger picture.

Living where I do, we have the advantage of fresh or salt water. I enjoy going to the bays and fishing for trout and redfish but don't get to go very often.

nothing to me is more relaxing and exciting at the same time as fishing. Living in central NC I am within 3 hours of both salt and fresh water trout. And have traveled the Globe chasing Bill fish. But nothing, IMO beats catching anything biting with my son and sharing a bucket of worms and a cold beer.

I still fish a lot but not as much as I used to. Now I pretty much only fly-fish for Trout and Bass.

When I have time I go to my friends camp on the Miramichi River and fly-fish for Atlantic Salmon. That's fishing..!;)

For the past several years I have not been out nearly as much as I used to but, back in the day, I fished probably around 200 days a year. Some of my favorite spots are local but I also really enjoy some of the places we vacation such as Florida and Lake George in New York.

I've done a little saltwater fishing, which I enjoyed, but the bulk of my time has been on freshwater lakes and rivers. My favorite targets include bass (both small and large mouth), perch, pike and salmon.

I do miss getting out like I used to and have the feeling that one day soon I may amp up my fishing frequency.

I fish every summer many, many times. I have a few kayaks and the family has a decent sized fishing boat. Here in MN we have loads of lakes to choose from. I prefer fishing for Walleye and Sauger, when those aren't biting (which seems to be most of the time), we go for pan fish or troll for Northern/Musky. I caught a 48" Northern last summer, it is my current record largest/heaviest fish. I hope to do ocean fishing some day in my life.

Always been facinated by the various trout subspecies in North America, tell us about your lodge!

Atlantic Salmon..never caught one of those, I have fished and caught Landlocked Salmon in Maine with the long rod and Coho & King Salmon here in Lake Michigan as well as several Michigan tributaries but those were all with spinning or baitcast tackle. Bass fishing with the fly rod is something I want to start up again, used to do a lot of it.

What kind of yak do you fish from, I've been looking at the Jackson Big Tuna.

I have to private lakes and I almost never fish anymore.

I see that changing as my grandson gets older, and my granddaughters want to fish more.

I used to fish all the time, and also fished the monthly bass tournaments here at the lake, but I just have been busy with other hobbies and pastimes.

A weigh - in picture - second place overall and big bass this day.

Looks like a nice pond in the pics, but that spin combo? Seriously, we have to talk! Trade possibilities ahead!
