Is this her playing?Pretty darn good:thumbup:...a little depressing, but good none the less;)

Yeah, that's her. She's a great guitarist but I had to stop listening to Virgin Black before I needed some antidepressants. :)

How is it that Slash and Angus Young are not in the poll but a guy who wears a KFC bucket is?? lol, oh well. Zakk wylde is another...

Rat and a couple of others have already mentioned Danny Gatton,I'd add Roy Buchanan to this list of amazing guitarists.
I remember a time when Danny and Roy were vying for reigning guitar god of the DC,Baltimore area.

Buckethead,1 vote.
Lol ! :D

Doug

Al Dimeola & John McLaughlin- Short Tales of the Black Forest

Paco De Lucia & John McLaughlin- Zyryab

My top 5 :D

Dimebag Daryl Abbot
Buckethead
Max Cavelera (Sepultura, Soulfly, Cavelera Conspirecy)
Claudio Sanchez (Coheed and Cambria)
Zack Wylde (Black Label Society, Ozzy)

Impossible to limit the list to ten.
I saw only one mention of Satch (Joe Satriani) and Django;they have to be on anybody's list. Frank Zappa is certainly up there. Jeff Beck should have been on the short list for sure.
I'm surprised that nobody mentioned Johnny Winter, Mike Bloomfield , Buddy Guy, Albert Collins, BB King, Freddie King, Albert King or on the jazz side, Charlie Christian, Lenny Breau, or on the country blues side, Robert Johnson, Bukkha White, and on it goes. How can any of them be left out?
BTW, If you like Alvin Lee, you have to listen to the live album, Undead, which is incredible. I Can't keep from Crying from the Isle of White is also amazing.
But all these years later with the release of more and more outtakes and jams (not all of which should have been released) I still hear things Hendrix did that I never heard before or since. F***in* genius.

I am a big SRV fan, but I think Eric Clapton is better. If we could include all the old blues and bluegrass guitarists, no one past the 40's would be on the list.

Andres Segovia
Jimi Hendrix
Jeff Beck
Jimmy Page
B.B. King
Chet Atkins
Joe Satriani
Eric Clapton
Wes Montgomery
Stevie Ray Vaughan

those two dudes from dragonforce. They blow my mind.

Yngwie Malmsteen.

Slash.

Let's see:

Mark Knopfler
Doc Watson
Carlos Santana
Leo Kottke
Stevie Ray Vaughn
Clarence White
David Bromberg
Chris Smither
Joe Pass
Barney Kessell

In no particular order.... Many more I couldn't just pull off the top of my head; there are dozens of fine blues, bluegrass, rock, and jazz players out there.

All excellent points. As I said earlier, this list could've easily gone to top 50.
I kinda "dropped the ball" leaving out Jeff Beck,Johnny Winter,Satriani,Van Halen...& a lot others.I just listed MY favorite 10.That's why I left a space for "other"

BTW,I just seen some youtube concert w/Frank Zappa & the Mothers(forgot the song)...man oh man!Frank Zappa's one awesome guitarist!!If I listened to that before I made the poll, he'd definitely be on it.

Like HJK said.."It's impossible to limit it to 10",but I did my best:o

Take Care,

Who was/is that blind guy who played slide guitar in the movie "Road House" w/Patriack Swayze?
He's great. He'd be on the extended list.

[edited to add ]Buckethead's a personal favorite of mine. That's why he made my list.
