Who can make a Buster Sword

So I'm in a mood for excess these days. I've got lot's of useful knives and guns and even swords and other nifty things. I have a want for something useless but cool. That being said I'd like to be of reasonable quality. Not just some cheap piece of junk to hang on a wall. No matter if I use it or not... something I can pass on to my children that will make them as... what was Daddy Smokin?

Ever hear of a Buster Sword. I use the term loosley because I'm not after an exact replica but a sword of such dimensions. It was in the video game Final Fantasy I think. But like much Japanese Anime it was a small figured hero with a GIGANTIC sword. The thing would probably be at least 6 or 7 feet in overall length with at least 2 feet of that being handle. And a blade that usually is about 8 to 12 inches WIDE. Got any idea if there are any makers out there with the equipment to make such a thing and it actually be functional? I guess it would need to be at least .25" thick... 3/8ths to .50" would be better. I know it won't flow, or ever be very managable... but I'm strong enough to lift such a thing and swing it around at least. I would love to one day own such a monster. Something that no one else really has... maybe even something else that no one really wants... but I would adore a giant excessive blade such as this.

Any ideas on makers with tools for such a thing. Here is a pic for reference.

You do realize that thing would weigh around 50 lbs, right? Imagine swinging a manhole cover around on the end of a stick. That's pretty much what you have there.

Google the Sword Buyer's Guide forum.

There's plenty of people over there who can help you find what you're looking for.

Ahhhh.

I remember a maker who did similar stuff. Large swords, axe's, etc.... Can't for the life of me recall who it was. Had a basic website though... :(

He could have saved a lot of effort by batoning...

...with a caber. :eek::D;)

I'm pretty sure he could have destroyed all of his pallets in about 1/5 of the time, with as many or fewer strokes, with a Khukri.

Remember... this is about excess... not efficiency.

Check out Horton knives, he's a maker here and has his own forum. He makes obese swords, thick.

Honestly, I don't think you really do want something that huge. The guy in the video can only be using aluminum. If it was steel he couldn't even hold it up, much less swing it.

What you really want is a well-made two-hander. John Lundemo of Odin Blades could probably whip up something super gorgeous for you, though I'm not sure if he's taking orders right now. click.

That is abbsolutly insane! I was to make something like that it would cost 5000 dollars. I wish you luck. Bud,,,,,

No... I do want one. For no other reason than pure excess. I don't expect to be practicing with it, or chopping wood with it, or even doing anything more than the occasional clumbsy wing just for laughs... it will more often than not stay hung on my wall for a showpiece so that people can OOOO and AAAAAH over it. And when I'm feeling frisky maybe lug it out and swing it a few times.

I'll check out Odin Blades and see if they could make something like this... but otherwise I'm not really interested in a big sword... I am partial to mid size japanese type swords. Something with about a 24" blade and 11" tsuka.

This is something... just to have. Useful or not. I don't mean to be rude but I've never understood the mentallity of some people to see a post in these forums where a guy is saying "I want this" and then someone feels the need to chime in "No you don't want it" just because they don't want it themselves. I don't need to have what other people have. I don't even care if anyone approves of what I want. The question is... does anyone know of a maker who can pull it off. You're welcome to say that you think it's stupid, or that you find it useless, or that you wouldn't want one. But to say "I don't think you want that... this is what you want" makes no sense to me. I know what I want. Something crazy, strange, unique, and different.

edit: you posted while I was writing. OK, you want one to hang on the wall. Got it

LOL, thanks for looking. I figure it will be hard to find someone to make something like this for me. But it's worth a shot. Again.. thank you for checking out my thread.

LOL... I saw the oringal post though... Yeah I know it will be near impossible to use. i don't invision myself swinging it around for hours and actually doing stuff with it. I might swing it a few times just to apprecaite how insane it is... but otherwise it will be piece of semi-functional (I stress Semi) Decoration. But if I'm gonna do it... I want it to be a real one and not a piece of sheet metal with a handle on it LOL.
