Sorry I fall into the 'I love my Mistress' group.

Possibly the only people that don't love the Mistress are other knife makers and those that haven't been able to get one yet?

She's currently waiting for a new pair of pants from chuddy bear, a dangler to be exact.:D That is one heck of a collection, I wish I wouldve been into Busses when those straight handled ones were still around...... around and affordable.

I recently humped my Mistress in the Colorado boondocks. I included a Badger in the foray. I humped close to 3,000 feet vertical gain and didn't really notice my Mistress' weight, but that would be ungentlemanly to complain about her porkiness.

And I see a different black blade on the SHBMs from the FBMs, is that like a TiNi coating instead of the crinkle coat? That's basically my dream finish for a Busse, is it still available somehow?

ummmm... but the black on black fits so nicely with these.

As for coats... I believe the old smooth coating is a ceramic coat versus the new crincle coat.
Not really sure if you can still get it from Busse, but maybe send Garth an email to ask.
Beyond that... I'm sure there are shops out there that can do what you're after.

Man, I had to work for it. A guy in my neighborhood had a big hickory tree cut down, and I'd been eyeballing the log sections for a week. I finally went over yesterday and asked if I could have one, and he was fine with it.

Getting the stump was another story. The log sections were between 4 and 5 feet long. Think heavy and then triple it. I could roll one of those big sections, but I couldn't turn it. And I sure couldn't roll it up the gate/ramp of my trailer. It probably would have warped the gate, and I'm not positive my axle could handle it.

So I broke out my meager 16" Poulan and started cutting a 20" section off of one log. I'd cut, roll it, cut some more, roll, etc. Problem was that my blade wasn't quite long enough, and there was a section about the diameter of a baseball bat still intact in the middle. Tried prying it apart, but I just got a long iron pry rod stuck in the stump. Finally had to retrieve a longish hand saw and finish the cut. With just a 20" length, it was still a challenge rolling that thing up on my trailer and securing it. That is some solid, heavy wood.

Should be fun to chop on though. :thumbup: The lesson here? ... I need a bigger chainsaw. :D
