Who else EDCs a fixedblade?

I did what you suggested but used the soft side of a piece of welcro glued in place. It works. I might have to sand the inside of the sheath lightly to fine tune the retention.

Very good! Glad we were able to fix it. It's nice and smooth to draw from now, no?

I have my mind set on trying to EDC a fixed blade. I have had my eyes set on an Esee Izula for a while. How hard is it to adapt the stock sheath for horizontal belt carry? Or, does anybody have a recommendation on such a sheath for that knife?

I just use some leather straps and make two side carry loops in the kydex. Someone put an innertube on my bk14 kydex. Check out the first post!

The knife retention on the stock sheath is pretty good... or it has been on mine, anyway. I just used part of a $9.00 bicycle inner tube from Walmart to make a horizontal belt loop for it. It holds the sheath in place and pretty close to your side. I'd recommend trying that before spending $ for a custom horizontal sheath.

Ooh, very nice! Looks mean and slicey!

It's actually my work carry! They're both excellent. Same carry today as yesterday, double-cross-draw style:

I almost always EDC a fixed blade, except when I'm wearing basketball shorts. Usually in a weak side crossdraw appendix carry set up. Today it's the Schrade SCHF57. Awesome little beater blade.

Have you had any other Schrades with hard sheaths? I've been eyeing them for a while as the price point and variety are excellent.

Hi, new (old member) here. I posted here back in 2005-ish.

Great thread. Lots of beautiful and expensive blades.

I carry both a pocket clip folder and a fixed blade. Fixed blade I use the Kabar TDI, appendix carry.
  • quick deploy
  • appendix carry
  • ambidextrous access
  • gives a time gap to allow access to other tools (AR, Glock, Folder, larger blade)

I've had a few. All are great. Some are a little too tight out of box. Don't know if that's a bad thing.

Be it a small neck knife or a big belt blade, a Fixed blade is usually my companion during most days, Summer time even more often

Whats the thickness on that tanto? It looks nice and heavy.

It's actually pretty slim overall, but the blade stock looks to be about .175-.20 by my estimate. It's robust but a slim carry much like the Decepter. Both sheaths are also excellent - the best factory Kydex sheaths I have ever had; perfect retention.

Very interesting. I like the general looks and the more traditional tanto point. I think I will keep an eye on the market for one of these.
Oh, and the thickness sounds just about perfect.
