Who else has shifted from folders to fixed?

I added fixed to folder rather than shifted
I did the same. I find that I prefer a more refined edge on a folder so having a fixed blade around to do things like lift a top off of a can or peel back some cardboard is good for maintaining a keen edge on the folding knife. Im sure its overkill to non knife carry-ers but its something I have taken a liking to. Currently carrying an ESEE-3 with a Tek-Lok in S35VN as the fixed blade of choice.

Similar with me as far as tasks are concerned. Have an Esee Izula as fix blade

Wouldn't say I shifted to fixed but since you asked and this thread has been resurrected...

My RC3 and my BM. One is always on my pack when I go hiking/camping.

I have the same blades, I find myself not wanting to use the BM as they are discontinued. Both are good

I have definitely shifted gears over the years. I spent a couple decades collecting folders. Mid level, high-end, customs - I had them all.

Many years ago, I put some serious thought into how I obsessed over blade-centering, pivot action, impeccable lock-up (yes, I am guilty of performing the spine-whack test more than a few times...). I was never really TRULY happy with folders and was always looking for what I thought would finally be the holy grail. And I never found it. And it finally dawned on me - it probably doesn't exist for me.

That was the precise moment when I started to appreciate the very nature of a fixed blade. There is far less to obsess over. They are simple tools. They are works of art. They are primal. They are brilliant in their simplicity. Nothing to worry about except the sharpness of the edge.

Fast forward to today, and I don't even remember the last folder I purchased - it was probably 10 years ago or so. And now I sleep better at night. Food tastes better. The air smells sweeter. The stars shine brighter. It was a hard addiction to break, but one I will never return to.
