Who finally got their "Grail knife" this year and what was it?

Inconceivable!

This was a 7 year wait that was completed in May 2014. It took me that long to save for it. It took around 6 months for Vince to make it. Kinda odd that a person who carries and collects slipjoints for the most part has wanted it for as long as I have.
Other than his wife Grace carving the handle, the forging, inlays, engraving, grinding and build are by Vince Evans. Photos by Jim Cooper

But can you baton it with a hammer???:p

Jk, nice sword! I know next to nothing about them, but it sure looks like it took a LOT of work to make.

I found this Brad Southard AVO to be an excellence "balance" which includes many features of a great casual-carry folder.

Just landed my first hinderer! Was lucky to find a 3 inch slicer flipper at an online dealer. Should be here tomorrow.

I don't have a Grail knife that I can think of. Sure there are knives I'd love to have in a collection if I had the cash but I just can't think of a good reason to buy, say, a Raymond Estrella for $1K+ when I have s couple of Sebenzas... Or a Calavera Model 4 when I have a few SnGs... ect.

I CAN say I bought a knife in 2014 that has really really been excellent and I will be buying more of... a Survive GSO 3.5 in CPM-20CV. It is easily the best all around fixed EDC Ive ever had!

Got my Zaan, kind of a grail for me. Also a Mini Skirmish, it wasn't a grail before but now it is. They're quite a perfect edc duo.

My Grail knife is an Emerson CQC-6. There have been a few come up on the secondary market but the asking price is nothing short of insane. And while I could comfortably afford it if I wanted to get it, I refuse to pay a 350% markup on it.

If I could find one for table price, like in a lottery, I'd pick one up in a heart beat

I must be crazy; I never thought I'd spend this much on a pocket knife. Now I have my first Hinderer on the way. Crazy stuff...
For this much money I could of bought a boom stick.

Nice pics guys all these knives are beauties keep them coming. Also it doesn't just have to be a grail knife I just like seeing the knives that people have worked to get, they don't all have to be $1000 knives just anyone that took a lot of work to get your hands on.

I do believe Chris Reeve Knives are the "gateway drug" to more and more expensive knives. I bought an Umnumzaan around September, and now I have two Zaans (2014 and a 2010 StarTac), a Sebeza 25 , then I ended up with a 1 of 2 TSF Beast Spear Point and a TSF Gorgon, and on the way I have two (lower end) customs and a Chaves 228 midtech.

My real Grail for 2014 was managing to score a TAD Dauntless Mk4. Thankfully that email came just at the right time, they were sold out in around 15 minutes and I was probably the last to nab one.

I marked a want off, not one of my grails, but it was at the top of my production "Gotta get it now" list. Ironically enough I don't like foreign made knives, or recurve blades, and AUS-8 is just okay to me, but I got a CRKT Foresight First Production and I couldn't be happier, Better than my Benchmades, Spydercos, Kershaws, Love it.

Although I don't really have a "grail" knife, there were two that I waited . . . and waited . . . and waited for: the Minuteman Watches version of the ZT 0801BW (aka MM01K aka 0801BWMM) and then the Kershaw Camber. Those were really the high points of 2014 in terms of knives. I also scored a couple from my longtime must-have list (Benchmade Nimravus, Ka-Bar D2 Extreme, Kershaw Shallot) and my wife bought me a Ka-Bar USMC.

For me, it was getting a new Benchmade 810. It may not be rare, or special, but i love the blade, and am overjoyed to have it. It certainly has become special to me..
