who gave you your first pocketknife?

My parents.
Some 30+ years later, I still have it.
It's the bottom Boker in this picture.

Papaw gave me my first knife (Case Small Stockman). I was so young at the time that I can't remember ever not having it. I was born in '67. A few years later he gave me my first gun, a Marlin Model 60. Wish Papaw was still around.

This is my first time posting a photo, hope it works out.

I bought my first with my allowance money with I was in the 2nd grade. Parents didn't give us kids much of anything other than at Christmas and it was then within a very rigid budget. A Case slip joint would have pretty much burnt the budget to put it into perspective.

My uncle Ernest gave me a Camillus USN slipjoint, the one with a can opener and bottle opener. I carried it for 20 years and just wore it out. So I bought 3 labeled USMC, one for me and one for each son.

My uncle gave me his swiss army knife when we picked him up at camp lejune when he got back from the gulf war. I like the one of the people who posted above cut myself with it In less then a half hour of having it.

My dad gave me a Case fishing knife with yellow composite scales, it's still in my tackle box to this day.

I got my first knife from my Dad when I was 7 or 8, so this would be 1978 or 1979. It was an Imperial two blade jack knife. If I recall, it had green coloured "decals" on the shell, but they got worn off/peeled off quickly. This knife had been sitting on his workbench for quite some time before I had the guts to ask him if I could have it LOL. He is 89 now, so my guess is the knife was at least 20 years older that I am? I still have this knife, but not sure where it is LOL, it still exists, but not sure which box it is packed in up in the attic of the barn LOL.

I vaguely remember getting one of those Cub Scout knives with the spoon on it, that may have been the only purchased knife. But my Dad was in the auto wrecking business in the 1960's, so he would bid on cars, and when ripping them apart he would always find crappy pocket knives, and switchblades that had less spring than a knife without a spring. lol. So he would give them to me, none were any good, but I had a pretty good collection of crappy knives at the time.

My Grandpa gave me a small swiss army type knife when I was a cub scout. My mother was completely against it, but let me keep it

I was 9 or so when my dad gave me my first knife. Sharp model 200, and maybe 11 when he gave me my first gun, Marlin .22 bolt action.
I am 42 now and still have both.

My Grandpa bought me a knock off Delica full serrated when I was 13. I carried it for years before he surprised me with a Blue Delica 4. I have both to this day but sadly the Sebenza has knocked everything else out of my pocket. I dug the knife out to take a picture but photobucket seems to be giving me troubles tonight.

I bought my first pocket knife, but as for someone giving me one ..my current girlfriend. She gave me a Spyderco Para 2

Mine was in my stocking when I was eight. A plain red sak classic. My first real knife went like this. So I was at my grandpas and was using my knife for something and he said it was time I got a real knife and he told me to pick one out from the wall. It was a schrade old old timer 240t and is at least sixty years old the cool thing is it was my great grandfathers. I never met him but from what I hear he was a great person.

My mother gave me and my brother each an Old Timer Stockman. We were 7 and 8 years old . It was for our birthdays. Band aids soon followed. That was over 50 years ago.

My Dad I guess. I don't remember that clearly. It was a red-handled swiss army knife, but I have no idea what became of it. Knives were not particularly interesting to me as a kid.

I was 9 or 10 when I got my first knife. I found a buck 110 while out hiking in the woods. Still have it. When I was even younger, I went to mammoth caves with my parents and saw a little "mammoth caves" victorinox classic knock-off. My mom didn't think I was old enough for a knife yet(I agree with her now). this past year, I made another trip down to the caves with my girlfriend. What do you know! Those little pocket knives were still there. So I bought one. It is one of my favorites, even though I now own much more expensive knives. New knife enthusiasts, keep your first knife if you can!
