Who has eaten cats or dogs?

I have killed a number of feral cats. These introduced animals are considered a pest here because they prey on our native birds.... some of which can't fly. Some of the cats I've shot, others I've caught in traps set for other animals.

I tried eating one of the more recent cats I caught. It smelt a bit strange while I was skinning it, but it was absolutely delicious. Fried as I recall.

I'd have no hesitation in eating anotber cat if I had to.

I guess I would also eat dog in the right circumstances. But I'd be extremely reluctant to kill and eat somebody's trusting pet.

We might only survive a few days without water, but healthy folks might survive several weeks without food. I'd be looking for other options before butchering a pet.

In fact, the more I get to know animals, the more I question the ethics of killing them. I've eaten them for decades now, I enjoy meat.... and I always try to hunt with respect and compassion. I figure that animals eat other animals, so eating meat can't be too bad.

I ate quite a few things in Taiwan from the roadside vendors while workin' in Hinshu, I was told not to ask what I was eatin' just try it, I was told later that I had dumplings made with both.

When I was there it was not unusual to see a woman get out of a BMW or Mercedes with a little Terrier all decked out in jeweled collar under her arm while she picked her dinner, (a cat or dog) from rows of cages on the road side.

I was told later by my driver that they would order the cat or dog while they went shoppin' and when they headed home at the end of the day they would pick up the prepared animal on the way home for dinner.

I think I've eatin' every form of wildlife on this continent even had horse, actually not bad, a very mild meat considerin' how all they eat is grains, oats and grass.

When your hungry eventually everything edible is considered food.

I've always been open minded about food from other cultures and willin' to at least try it.

I'm pretty sure they were messing with you. Next time just go to the betelnut stands and oggle the girls.

Taiwanese isn't a cat or dog eating culture, certainly not from roadside stands. You were eating pork. It is actually against the law to sell dog meat in Taiwan.

To have dog, you need to be hanging out with the aborigines in the mountains or in the southern part of Taiwan. Cats are generally too scrawny and fatty pork is preferred.

(I have eaten monkey brains in Taiwan though.)

I've eaten cat and dogs, but in southern China and SE Asia countries exclusively.
