who here can can add serrations to a knife?

not that i was able to find on that particular body style.

i want that specific straight tanto. i searched for ontario tanto, serrated and didnt come up with that model with it being serrated.

I too like a knife with serrations,,,,but I have failed to learn how to make them without making a mess out of the knife.

serrations ....I attempted two time this winter to make them.

The first attempt I did them after the Heat-treating and I learned that the little round file would chip the blade, or that the blade was so hard it dulled the file first.

The 2nd try I did the serrations before the HT...
That worked, but the blade cracked in the quench.
I was told that the reason might have been due to the serrations being too big and they cause a stress-riser to form

heres a gerber sheridan you might like it better than the ontario. Ontario makes their tanto in 2 longer sizes 8" and 10".

I was also planning on giving this a shot. My plan was to take the serrations down to a pre heat-treat thickness and finish after heat-treat with diamond burrs on a rotary tool. We'll see how it goes.

do most actual smiths do serrations?
LOL, I dont think we could ever know that,,,Im sure we may all think about it,,,B
But a lot of guys hate serrations...a lot of guys think that are junk, and think only kids want them.

I kinda like them myself, they are on a few of my work knives and they are very handy

what is edc? and no ive put the knuckle guard thing in the past. i still want a tanto blade with serrations though.
