Who keeps a 'hawk by their beds. Anyone?

I just today joined Blade Forum researching tomahawks, and found this interesting (if at times argumentative) thread with participation by some buddies from another forum.

So, at the risk of restarting a thread that may be better left quiet, I just thought I'd pop in and say, "Hi guys". ;)

Welcome, and I hope the impression is one of debate and discussion. I'm impressed with the level of participation here and find most of it to be positive (unless I'm drinkin' and livin' in days gone by;) ). This particular thread is a great platform, but as you can see, the original subject can get off topic easily. I hope that someone with less controversy than me will bring this back to life.;) :D

Mymind, thanks for your welcome. :)

Yes, definitely. Didn't mean to imply that the discussion herein has been unpleasant or out of line. Compared to some threads I've been in, this one is very well mannered. Most of the argument seemed to stem from misunderstanding (but I confess I didn't read ever word ...)

I've spent only 5 hours today (yikes! has it really been 5 hours!? where did my day go?), but have been pleasantly impressed by the quality of discussion and the character of the people.

louisville slugger next to my head, and a buck 119 under my pillow. while not an especially good combat knife, it'll still knick ya pretty good.

That Winchester defender would be my choice for home defence.I was looking at one at a gun shop.Nice compact package....Mike

I had one of those, but it magically became my wifes when I got married. ;)
Now I use an Remington 1187 SP. with a 1911 (the original 911) as backup for things that go bump in the night. As far as selective lethality goes anything worth attacking is worth killing in the eyes of the law. Using an Axe will likely get you sued if you live in some of the more leftist states, also depending on the jury.

That being said I would love to get an ATC Hawk, and will probably order one when I get back from the Stan.

AF_INT1n0, do you see any 'hawks in use over there?

Stay safe. Come home soon.

Keep your head low and your a$$ lower. Thanks and come home safe!!!!

OK, I have not carefully read every post in this thread, so my apologies if I am repeating anything. An axe or hawk should be in every bedroom, IMHO. I keep a Granfors Bruks axe near the bed, and a hatchet by the same maker not much farther away. Some intruders are not human; ever see a giant tree limb, tossed by the wind, into a house? Or, fires can happen. With an axe, I can easily break out a window, exit the house, and go to the back bedrooms, where other family members might be, and make short work of the windows or even the wall. Ditto for another part of the house to rescue pets; no need to breath bad air going through the house. The axe can also help the neighbors in time of need. Of course, an axe is also insurance if the duty SIG .40 and both .357 Rugers happen to all have a group malfunction.
