Who Makes Bushcraft Knives???

Spooky, I think you should go ahead and pull the trigger on this knife. It really feels perfect in the hand. The one problem I noticed is not with the knife but with the sheath. Mine is split at the top inside corner. The sheath is too narrow for the fatass handle. Would send it back but I cant imagine another sheath would be any different. I will ask Mike about this but it seems to me JRE should have made the sheath a little wider and put a rivet in the upper inside corner as a reinforcement. You guys who have this knife already have this problem?

John

You know, I saw a picture of that and even in that it looked like the top of the sheath was about to burst. Not cool at that price!

A kydex sheath was available when I ordered the BNW knife. Since I like to make my own leather sheaths I usually order kydex if it's available.

The sheath I made for the knife holds well but I want to build another one and I'm thinking of using a flap (ala Buck and Fallkniven).

Hmmmm, I thought it was just me. I should have mentioned that myself. No problem though - easily fixed with a strop. I just strop at a little higher angle, work with it again, test the edge. After a couple tries I find the "sweet spot" where it's as acute as it can be and still stand up very well. I am using his non-traditional "high Scandi" on mine and figured I was just using too low an angle when sharpening.

This is the experience I had as well - thought it was just me too! ;)

I sold it because I wanted a true Scandi grind - not a secondary bevel or convex. I think the angle is too shallow for a true scandi grind.
