Who still carries a Case Knife?

Decided on a Case Mini-Copperlock, small lockback for today's EDC. OH

I still carry a Case Sodbuster in chrome-vanadium. Outside of my Spyderco specialty steels, that CV steel gets wicked sharp and holds an edge better than any of my ~20-30 other knives. I only discovered this after I dug it out of a drawer, belt-sanded off the barnacles and scale from tuna fishing with it, and put a new edge on it recently. So glad I did (I had pretty much written-off that particular knife) because it's now my go-to for a SHARP knife that I ain't afraid to use...

I wish they still offered the CV steel. Yeah, I know, they claim their CS is just as good but I own their 1095 knives and they don't come close...

Case's CV or Chrome Vanadium steel is still available, but has changed (I think several times) over the years. Depending on the expert, it has been 1084, 1095 and now 1086, and always with just a smidge of vanadium to refine the edge. Over the decades since WWII it has gotten harder and harder, from the low 50s HRc to now around 58.

When you showed us this knife the other day, I was already looking around. That Caribbean Blue is really something special, and I was in luck earlier today, I'll have to post up tomorrow when the light's good for pics. :D
Looking forward to it!!
John:)
