The shield fell out and got lost at some point.

Last year the helpful and courteous Zippo/Case customer service department sent a replacement shield to me.

Man.... Case does blue really well.... I have two or three blue ones that are just gorgeous.... that one takes the prize, though. Not to mention it's a great pattern knife... the half whittler. That's the first one I've seen in damascus.... most excellent!
