Not I got the name Indian George because I have been riding a 1947 Indian Chief Motorcycle for over 35 years. Half the people that I know do not even know my last name. (or want too) HEHEHEHE!!!!

See? There you go. In rural Indiana where I live there's no such thing as in-breeding. There's just breeding and not breeding. Just one big happy family!

1947! Thats a hard ride. Do you ride much? Hey, I was wanting some info on heat treating 440c. I've got a kiln and the info I have is to place the knife in and take it up to about 1850 for thirty min. Is this correct? Now what? Do I remove it at that time? If so, does that hurt the kiln, opening it up at a high temp? What is draw?

Hi, my name is David Steier. I am a retired tool and die maker. I have been making knives for about twenty some years. Being new to the forums, I am still trying to familiarize myself with how they work. Hopefully I can get a few of my knives posted in the gallery soon. My place of residence is Louisville, Ky.

Hi, I have been lurking awhile. My name is Lonny Ritter, I live in Elk City Ok. Making knives is just a hobby for me.

My name is Gregg McFarland. I currently live on the island of Kauai, HI. I have done some welding in the past, but steel is very expensive here. I am thinking about trying a few knives, since the material needed is small and can probably be had for free.

I am sure I will have lots of questions. I hope I don't irritate anyone. Aloha.

Wow! Great forum! Just signed up a few days ago and have been lurking to check out the neighborhood. My name is Jim Wharton, live in Belle Plaine, KS and have been making knives for about 18 years (stock removal). My knives will be marked with Wharton S&S (Stag & Steel) and a "cross on a hill". I use ATS-34 almost exclusvely and do all my own work, heat treating, sheath making etc.. I would love to do this full time and will in a few years when I retire from Spirit AeroSytems Inc. (LORD WILLING). As soon as I figure this photobucket picture posting thing and how to become a paying member, I'll put some pics of my work up. I sell by word of mouth and returning customers mostly....just a hobby...yea right...it's my passion. Look forward to getting to know some of you folks. Any makers close to where I'm at that are here on this forum? Jim aka; Stag & Steel
