Who The Heck Are Ya?

Hey John,

Come on by and see me sometime. I'm sure I've got a hammer that will fit your big hand. :D

Mark

 Nice try ol buddy, you guys work to hard at the knife thing, pounding and packing.........you know the drill...... :D

Hi all,
My name is Phillip Patton. I live in northeast Indiana. I've had a lifelong love affair with anything that cuts or goes bang. I made my first knife in 1999, and my first decent one last year. ;) I joined Blade forums a couple months ago, and this is my first post. Shoptalk is where I've been reading the most, and soon I'd like to start actually talking on there. I'm thrilled to find such a ready source of knifemaking knowledge and experience.
My main interest is forging. I've made pretty much all my own equipment, including 2 gas forges and a 2x72 belt grinder. And a Kinyon style air hammer.

I was a Boiler maker operator supervisor for 44 years got a bunch of hobbies one of them is making knives and Damascus I like to try different things with the metal and see what comes out. I live in NC in the summer FL in the winter. By for now. Harold (Boiler Guy) :)

Hey Harold!!! Thanks for the email and the pic of your old Inidian

Hey guys,
I've read BF for several years and just joined to continue my enjoyment and education. This all started at the age of 7 when I got my first knife and has snowballed. Knife collector, Buck Knife Collectors Club, stock removal knife making and soon to be forging.I just went to the Bill Moran Hammer in and I'm making the proper changes to my shop and knife making techniques.
Thanks,Scott

Thanks for asking. I appreciate an open forum that mirrors what I have seen in the knife community thus far. That is, a great bucnh of people that are ingenious, creative, generous and fun! My name is Bruce Hershberger and new to the Forum by about 2 months. Like most of you I've loved sharp pointy things as long as I can remember. I decided about 2 years ago I wanted to try making knives. It seemed like a better way to support my addiction. I attended the West Coast Forging Clinic in the spring of '03. That didn't help my addiction one bit! I signed up for and attended the ABS School of Bladesmithing Intro Class in the Fall of '04. I then built a shed in my backyard to throw everything into to make room in my garage for my next addiction........knife making equipment.
I'm lucky enough to have Red St.Cyr as friend and metor who lives close to me and allows me to pester him (he seems to like it) incessantly. I've made a few knives and sold a few knives and enjoy the heck out of the learning process! I belong to Cal Knives , So. Calif. Blades and the ABS. Oh yeah, and just as important.....a life member of the NRA. If you're not a member, join today. We're fighting the same cause.

Hi all, my name is Jeremy and I am new to bladesmithing, in fact I am very excited to announce that I am working on my first blade and it is going surprisingly well. I am very interested in learning, and would appreciate any advice whether I ask or not... the benefit of being new is that you know nothing... so every bit of advice is good!

I live in Lynnwood, Wa. and would certainly love to meet a forging buddy!

Thanks fellas!
Jeremy

I just changed my name from Harleyd2900 to J.Keeton.

My name is Jimmy Keeton. I am 16 and from Louisiana. My father owns a motorcycle shop so I have access to a lot of tools. I have a couple of knifes under my belt and am planing to start making damascus after I get my forge running. I play the cajun fiddle, the guitar, basketball, and I throw the disc in track.

Jimmy

I am a newbie as well--I am 16 and have only bought nice knives--never made them. A friend and I are geting into it and I need all the help I can get (if you please)...

Hi, My name is Mark D. Williams. My friends call me "Chief" because I'm half Cherokee. Been making knives using others blade and now I have the things I needed to do it right. What I need is a step by step process of heat treating 440c. When to remove it from the kiln and things. I live in Lexington,SC and took grinding classes from Tommy McNabb in NC.
