Who wants to be a guinea pig? One Light Chopper prototype, 3V

I just hope this one doent end up like the A2 prototypes.. not goo high res pics.. no detailed test.. Ive suggested on the other thread what needs to be done.

How many makers do detailed tests before putting their work up for sale? The fact that he has a few videos (one of him chopping through nails, and the other of Keffeler going to town on some 2 x 4) speaks volumes about his work. Custom makers don't normally put detailed test vids up before they sell their knives. Maybe you should hold off on buying one till someone does a decent review...

As for me, I'm sharkin one the second I get the chance.

Yes, Im not sure why you said that.. cause that was exactly my point.. I hate it when people make knives make claims, and do nothing to back them up. (Not talking about Nathan or Keffeler) And whats worse is when they call something "Armageddon" or similar, but they test it out on bacon and tomatoes.. Make me cringe. Then they have the gall to charge $1000 for it.. and they wont even let you baton with it..

If you make a knife that falls under the "camp" knife, esp. if you give it a badass name like that.. it better be able to do what Nathan and Kefferler's, BUsse,etc.. are able to do

I agree with you.. but it seems like you think Im against you or something

This was part of a run of eight prototypes. I have destroyed three of them. I sold this one. I'm keeping one. One is going to Lorien, one is going to another person for testing and the last one, a thin one, is in heat treat right now. I haven't decided what I'm going to do with that last knife yet.

We'll look at the results of the testing and make whatever tweaks we need and probably start a regular run of these in a few weeks.

how thin, Nate? Sounds intriguing.

Sorry Captain, I guess i misunderstood your previous post. Glad we are in agreement.

Is that the thickness behind the edge?

probably gonna be ~.025 behind the edge. That's a function of the edge angle and the primary grind angle, where they intersect. The narrower edge angle I sharpen it, the wider it will be where it intersects the primary grinds. I'll probably sharpen it pretty acute, more like a comp cutter.

It hasn't been sharpened yet. It's in a cryo chamber right now.

edit: The run of choppers won't be quite so thin. I'm just doing prototype #8 like that because I wanted to try out more of a racing setup.
