Who want's to be a Moderator? (not Millionare, dammit!)

OK Spark, I'll bite.

I'm not going to give a long and drawn out application, just short and sweet.

As many of the members here know, I deal with approx. 1500 rapists, murderers, crackheads, pedophiles, etc., etc. on a daily basis and have done so for 14yrs. The way I figure, if I can deal with that I can surely deal with a bunch of fellow knifeknuts

It's time to give back to the place that I have gotten so much out of for over 2 years now, and I'd be glad to help out.

I would like to comment regarding e_utopia's application for moderator. He has posted the following, ""People 'jump on him like a crime suspect' because he is dishonest about his qualifications." In an attempt to determine whether e_utopia was worthy of belief without starting a flame war I privately emailed e_utopia. I emailed him in pertainent part, " Please tell me why you say (the party in question) is dishonest about his qualifications. Thank you, bug"

After four or five emails e_utopia continued to decline to state a basis for his statement.
At the end he stated, "If you are still confused...." I never considered myself confused. I was concerned. I wanted to determine if e_utopia was worthy of my belief. I decided that he was not.

It seems to me that even a non-moderator should have a reason he is willing to state before calling a forumite "dishonest", and that the non-moderator should readily supply the reason when polite inquiry is made.

Sincerely,
bug

What a compliment for Jim March to include my name with Yvsa and Medusa Oblongata.
I think I would enjoy their company in any endeavor.
I also noted Ken Cook's name in this roster.
When I see Ken's name in a thread I expect it to go well.

I submit my name for consideration.
For qualifications I list my burning interest in dialogue and my appreciation of the responsibility and accountability that go with moderating a forum.

Regardless, my thanks to Jim March for his kind words.

I'll throw my name into the ring. Been here since day one,was with the old knifeforums when it was Florida Knife and Tool the day that started up and remember all the sh#t that hit the fan with you and Mike. Before that was on rec knives and all the assorted crazy knife forums that were floating around back then.

I'm glad to see so many of you guys tossing your names in, especially both Ken's, as well as the "veterans" of the forum wars.

I don't know about Neil though, since you are probably so busy on the set of "Oz2"

Keep 'em coming guys, I'll leave this open until next Wed.

I'd throw my hat in the ring, but I'm sure there are other memebers who are much more knowledgeable about knifes and the knife community. Good luck on the search.

Always willing to help out, besides, I cut my finger twice yesterday with the same knife in under five minutes. Impressive? I'd say so.

Bug, c'mon now. You know that I offered to discuss anything with you which was not already answered in the thread which you were complaining about. You may also notice that I was not even posting (or reading, although you couldn't know that) on BFC at the time, due to how busy I was. I had been away for quite a few months at the time.

As I stated in my email, I am perfectly willing to discuss your concerns with you. If you had replied, I would have done likewise, but I never recieved anything from you, after that. If you still have unresolved issues, please send an email my way.

E_utopia I emailed you five (5) times on January 2,3,10,11, and 12 asking for the basis of your posting that a forumite was dishonest. You never told me. I prefer not to hear from you now.

The last time you wrote me you stated,
<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">Try reading the infamous Talonite thread. Try searching for posts by me, with the word (forumite's name deleted) in the message body. Unless Mike and Spark have changed the software since the last time I visited, that is a very easy thing to do. If you are still confused after that, let me know and I may be able to find some time in the next few weeks.</font>
I never was confused, but I had already read the Talonite Thread, and partially reread it at your suggestion. In your communications with me it always sounded like you couldn't quite seem to remember why you called the forumite dishonest. I have your emails.

Now you say I never asked again after the fifth (5th) time. You are correct. I felt, and still do, that five (5) requests are sufficient for you to answer the question,
<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">Please tell me why you say (forumite's name deleted) is dishonest about his qualifications.

Thank you,
bug"</font>

Bug, this will be my last response to you in this thread. As I stated, I was extremely busy at the time. I did not have time to answer your question with the depth which you seemed to want, so I referred you to a source for that information. I offered to respond in more depth in a few weeks, if you emailed me. Since you never did, I assumed that you had satisfied your curiosity.

That you say you would prefer not to hear from me now implies that you are not interested in the truth, but merely in starting a fight. Remember, if I had no interest in the truth, I could have claimed that you never sent me any such email. Instead, I have offered to spend my time answering your question, now that I have free time in which to do so.

As I said, this will be the last time I will respond ot you in this thread. You are more than welcome to email me, as is anyone else who would like to know why their time has been wasted reading your flames (using partial quotes, out of context, qualifies your posts as flames).

Mike, Spark, I hope that you will not hold these unwarranted attacks against me. I really would like to be able to help out around here, since I have gotten so much out of Bladeforums. If you have any concerns, don't hesitate to email me, and I can fill you in on the details, privately.

--JB

P.S., sorry to all of you who have no interest in this issue. I've done my best to see that your time is not wasted any more; we'll see what happens.

-with a wave of my wand and a tap of my nose, I push this lil button and away this part goes-

Spark if push comes to shove count me in. I don't have massive post numbers but I check in almost daily and read most of the new topics. Beside's the fact that I cause more flames than the Unaboma I also have a fairly good report with almost everyone, excluding certain pain in the *** rodent's. (which should be credit onto itself)

There's somebody from the BFC Chat room I'd like to recomend for the job. Now I know that there has been some talk of 'Mob' mentality and 'Chat Groupies' for being the cause of Para leaving, but this guys name is never mentioned as being a part of any of that. I've never heard him say a bad word about anyone, and insults and ribbing roll right off his back. In fact he's kind of quiet. doesn't say much, but boy is he a great listener. You can check into Chat any time night or day and he's always there ready to listen no matter how many times he's heard it before. He's far too modest to submit his name himself, but if called on I know he will serve. I think he would be perfect for the job.
Because he's so quiet I can't give you his full credentials, but I know he handles authority well without beating you over the head with it.

I'd like to nominate ChanServ for BFC Moderator in the General Forum.
Can I hear a second?

Couldn't get me to take that job for the world.

My $.02 worth is that post count and longevity should figure strongly into the equation. Old timers have seen a lot go on, and it's results, and coupling with a post count would indicate that the member has managed to be active over a long period of time without "flaming out".
