Who want's to be a Moderator? (not Millionare, dammit!)

PhilL, EmanymTon, Stompy..... you guys are WAY out of line throwing ChanServ's hat into the ring.

I was there one night in the Chat room when ChanServ thought it would be funny to hand out ops to MOE!! Moe went wild with power, kicking this person and booting that person... generally making a total mess of the chat room. What did ol' ChanServ do? NADA! He just sat there with his usual Feces-noshing grin and watched the whole mess unfold right in front of him. Standing by idly while Moe swings ops around like a large trout??? Not very Moderational my friends. Not at all.

That guy is nothing more than a lurking menace who would like as not watch a flame war burn this whole community to the ground, much akin to the Chicago fire of old, without lifting a finger to keep Mrs. O'leary's cow (like as not one of us)from kicking the lantern over.

Nosiree folks. You strike ChanServ's name from the record, if you know what's good fer ya.

I also think that it should be someone who has been around for a while. There is an "old guard mentality" here that almost guarantees the failure of someone who hasn't paid his or hers' dues. James left some big shoes that needed to be filled. I feel that Brad did a good job and displayed a lot of class on the General Board. Unfortunately, a combination of a thin skin, and a "hit" from the "Chat Room Mafia" sped up his exit. The new guy should have already displayed an ability to welcome new members and put up with FNG's questions. (Unfortunately Hoodoo, the latter takes you out of the running.)

They should also have an extensive knowledge of the different areas of Knifedom. This would allow them to point people in the right direction. All of these factors only point to a few people who would qualify. Some of them have already been mentioned. The person that comes to my mind is Greg Mete/KodiakPA. He embodies a lot of what made James such a great moderator. Patience, class, and most importantly, a great sense of humor. He also has been around for a long time and has the ability to call a spade a spade. The nice thing about the old days, was that you had James to welcome the newbies and calm the hot threads down, and you also had Bob Allman to be the "straight shooter" that would readily take the role of "heavy" when things got out of hand. They really complimented each other. Well, Spark has shown that he's not afraid to be the "straight shooter" and the "heavy". I don't know enough about David to say where he falls, so we need the guy who has patience and class to help out the new guys and calm down the hot threads. Sounds like Greg is the perfect guy. You haven't asked for it yet, but whad ya say Greg?

Yeah Vel, that was pretty funny, so what's your point?

Okay, I'll withdraw my support for ChanServ.
I agree with Hunter we need someone that everyone repects and nobody is going to mess with. Gary G2, and Greg Kodiak Pa, fit the bill. Although neither has mentioned that they want the job, which IMO speaks volumes for the intelligence. Bob Strider, on the other hand has thrown his hat into the ring, and has probably pissed off some people here and there. Nothing wrong with that in my book. I don't think you can spend any time here as an active Moderator and not piss off someone.

MO, MO, MO this kid is like a Timex watch, "Takes a licking and keeps on making a fool of himself".
Mo, I see you in more of a Monica Lewinski type role in this next administration. So MO, just scoot on under that desk and we'll call you when we need you. Okay?

Velitrius, one more crack about my great grandma's cow and I'm going to get really mad!

I want to say that there have been some great people suggested and I have to commend anyone who is willing to take on the job as moderator.

Gotta put a word in for Ferret. He is as dedicated a knife nut as there is and a level headed guy. Plus, since his Aussie hours are different from us stateside folks, he can be on guard while those of us in this hemisphere are sleeping.

Been gone for a week and just returned to find out that Para has given up the position as GF moderator. I'm sorry to see this happen. Para and I have had our personal battles but we've always resolved our issues. I think he's done a great job. In many ways, it's gotta be a pretty tough job for anyone 'cause you are bound to tick someone off. Para absorbed a lot of abuse. Anyway, I hope Para decides to come back as moderator or, at the very least, I hope he continues to contribute to BF.

My nominee is Gary Graley. He's an all-around nice guy who has the respect of everyone on the forums.

Spark,

After I was nominated last time, I have been filled with remorse and shame.....

[Hyperbole mode off]

Really, I felt like a greater than usual hole for refusing to contribute to this great internet knife thing.

So, if you don't have sufficient qualified subjects for your experiments in cruelty, pencil me in.

Hey Spark, enough of this BS, put DiabloII on pause and pick the New Goderators? I think you safely eliminate all the guys that volunteered, they obviously don't have a clue as to how this place works and what just happened to What's-His-Name?
