I spent a lot of time alone in my club house or bedroom reading comic books for hours on end.I didn't have that many friends, because I moved around so much when I was younger.Everytime I made a new friend,it was time to move again. After awhile I just stopped trying.(warning! sob story alert!:D)

I have a mint collection of comic books from the 70's that I wouldn't part with for anything.

I liked Superman because he was the most powerful, but a little too clean cut,boy scoutish for me.

Batman was just plain cool.No super powers, but a great detective mind, plus the ability to scare the hell out of his enemies. Not to mention all the cool gadgets.

Spiderman was a personal favorite of mine.Super strength,climbs walls,precognition(spidey-sense),spins webs/web slings,extreme agility & a funny personality.

I liked the HULK too! Just pure Rage,Unlimited Strength & Fury! The more damage he takes, the bigger & stronger he gets.

I liked the Flash too.He had a cool personality. He was the fastest of all the super heroes, including Superman!

Others I liked were Daredevil(even though he was a lawyer:barf::D),Ironman,Green Lantern,Green Arrow,the Avengers,The X-Men,The Fantastic 4,Captain America,...etc

So,who was your favorite?...Mine was Spidey with Wolverine as a close 2nd place, with The Flash & Daredevil tied for 3rd.Greenlantern would be a 4th place(he could do anything with that ring!)

....it's OK you can admit you were comic book nerds here ;):D:thumbup:

You can only vote for one in the poll, but you can put your 2nd,3rd & so on in a post.

BTW,I know I left out a lot,try not to flame me too hard! The polls only allow ten options.

Wolverine(had those cool claws!), and Punisher(both the original and the 2099 version). Just something neat about the edgy nature of those characters, kinda like some of the darker Batman portrayals.

frank miller's batman is great...i love the really edgy artwork and more solid feel to the character.

Captain America all the way! I liked how he stood up for what was right and he didn't have crazy super-powers: almost like Batman on steroids!

Thor.

Paul

Dr. Strange!

Then after I grew up (well ... grew up a little bit anyway) my girlfriend & I went to Grateful Dead concerts dressed as Dr. Strange & Clea....

I mostly read horror story comics, superheroes didn't interest me much. But I did like The Thing:

Capt. America was injected with a "super soldier" formula, giving him enhanced strength(I believe the strength of 10 men),super healing ability, speed & agility. He'd probably kick Batman's ass without any gadgets or weapons.
As far as comparing him to Batman,I don't think they could be anymore opposite. Were CapA has the morals & attitude similar to Superman(boyscout),Batman's morals & attitude compared more to Wolverine's(darker, but still good) with out the insane temper:eek:.
They both were super heroes though, cause they fought for justice.
Just my opinion.

Punisher ,although the new Garth Ennis ones are way better than the originals.
I could understand his motivations and relate to him while most of the super heroes were
derivative and Stan Lees were the worst. The Hulk was a bad rip off of Jekyl and hyde.

I liked Daredevil because i lucked out as a kid and found a deadly Frank miller one at the local candy store.

Some great current comics and authors are DMZ by Brian Wood.
Criminal and captain America by Brubaker
Anything By Garth Ennis but the Punisher Max is a real standout.
Gravel by Warren Ellis
Powers By Bendis.

You are definitly better off going by authors than titles. However frank miller has had a few stinker recently. I read a review of his new Batman that pointed out how bad it was and the review was actually very very funny.
