Who Would Be Interested In Doing A Collaboration Classic Hunter With Me??

I'm going to do a little fine tuning and I'll take some more pictures..then off to Jay right?

Hello Dan,

I've cleared my calendar, and my work bench. So I'm ready for her, whenever your finished your fine tuneing.

I'm still here in MN., and with the "Frost on the Pumpkin", we're getting ready to hibernate for the winter. Looking forward to spending some quality time with this knife, while the snow piles up outside.

Best Regards,
Jay Maines

AOK Jay
38F here this morning and we've had frost on many mornings now..:barf:
:)

Almost got up to 91degrees in South Central Texas today. Just thought I'd mention it:D Hibernate for the winter? Well, we do pull out our long sleeved shirts, but otherwise, it's business as usual for the next 6 months:thumbup:
Sure anxious to see the completed knive guys!

OK guys
I'm done, a few little things could be done after the sheath is made,
but it's looking good  Roger did a nice job on that Ivory,, what do you think so far?

Very good Dan! Now does it go staright away to Jay? The Pix look real good from here. The little dimples in the ivory on that one side is just the way the ivory is and I know it shows worse in photo than in real but that is just ancient ivory.

Roger
that's one of those things that some will like it that way and some won't
hopefully I'll get it sent out.. wen. you wouldn't believe my week-end :(

looking good though isn't it :) staying tight too...:)

Okay now Dan, please, remember to tell Jay when you send it all off to him that it, sheath and all, needs to come back to me for case making. If I am not mistaken, and anyone please advise otherwise if needed, I believe she all goes to Bruce Bump after that. I think that finishes her up and ready for sale. I hope I am not missing any details in that. And Dan my mailing address is not what it used to be - so Jay and I should get that straight before he ships out.

dang for some reason I stopped getting update e-mails to this thread and a few others
any of you have this problem.. Kevin doesn't know why?

anyway Roger, I didn't get it sent out..glad you mentioned the addy though..
I've had so much going on I can't see straight..
I'll be back in the shop Wen so I get it out then..I hope my memory don't fail me..

I just got back from VA/beach for my Navy ships reunion, an old navy buddy and I've been setting up for two years now..glad to say we'll be having another next year..I have a few must do deadlines, like that's a new thing for me  :) then this end will be tied up.. Bruce's auction should be tied up soon. then I have only a zillion orders and things I'm backed up on .. all in a days work I guess :o :)

Okay then Dan. That's great and I am absolutely sure Jay will make a killer sheath for this beautiful knife. When Bruce Bump gets finished with this thing we will have a superb blade.

Now, I have a few words to say about myself and my conduct within this during the last year +. My time performance on THIS up to lately has sucked. That is to say the least. However, it has been better than only a few weeks since this thread has been reactivated by me and Dan Gray. I see and have seen little motion from either the Cert. maker and the especially the article writer. To be fair Dan Koster did chime in a couple times (the Cert. Maker) but nothing from the writer. So I wonder, and no refelection on them at all since I can not place blame for giving up if they are still interestred or not. Big Dan did post about the size of Cert. he had in mind. There has been NO come back from our article writer. I wonder where we are. Dan will make the Cert.; I am sure of that but I wonder about the write up and I really wonder if we need one. I thiink this package will speak well enough for itself and any good magazine auther can AND will do it properly - I believe. Besides that, the write up should be transparent to the effort. The Cert. will describe the individual crafts and the author can take it from that and from his correspondence. Dan's Cert. is essential to this and I have absolute confidence in it coming from Dan and it will be a class act from him.

Roger, Have you emailed the writer? He may just not be following the thread anymore for whatever reason. I feel we do need a short story about the entire project including any delays and learning curves from all the makers involved. The "long and winding road" and "air miles" coupled with the fact that we as makers stayed together and have seen it to the absolute end will make a good story. The magazines will jump on it believe me. There are bound to be difficulties with so many makers involved but we did it. Knifemakers never cease to amaze me.
Roger...Walk Tall buddy. You did it.

Good advise Bruce and well taken.

Dan, who is the writer please. I will email him. Please advise.

Dan,

Thanks for the info. Good stuff.

Chuck made a deal with me for me making a knife for him using mammoth tooth ivory on his knife. In trade he gave me ivory and some other stuff. The ivory on this knife is the best of that lot. However, please do go ahead and put him down for donating the ivory. Let's get Chuck in the loop.

UPDATE: Now I think Chuck did send me a piece for this knife and I had pictured two or three different specimans for all us to choose from and that piece was not the one we chose for this knife. As a result I used the piece I owned and kept the one that was given. So yes, as I remember, Chuck donated ivory for this knife.

Still been checking in, and yes I'm still down for writing the article. Do we know where the proceeds will go? Selling it before/after an article publication? We might consider trying to talk Coop into taking pics to help get the best coverage we can out of this.

seems so, Coop said he would do the pictures? I can't find it though, I do know Dan K said he would do them..
the cool thing would be , if Coop does it, it will go to the mags faster and then we'd get all those readers wanting it,, if we then take the names of who wants it and then offer it to the highest bidder ,,, well you see where I'm heading.. we do need to decide on where the money will go..

here are some things I hunted down for some key things to write about maybe..
