Who Would Be Interested In Doing A Collaboration Classic Hunter With Me??

Ottis Linger, Jr. is the name for case making. He thinks oak will be best. Okay???

I am sending two pictures to Dave Larson for posting. The others did'nt turn out well enough and I will be shooting them again for posting.

When does it get here?

Burchtree, have scanner, can draw. I'll be more than willing to send a couple of drawings for consideration. Mabey there will be something you like or can incorporate into another design.

Bruce I think you get it next,, I'll ship her out to you as soon as I get it here again and I drool all over it one last time,( I want to see if I can spruce up any work I did to it..)
.. Bruce I got your mail , no problem, I'll ship some out to you with the knife..I emailed you from the rent on the coast did you get that?

Are all the rest of you OK with Rogers dad going with Oak for the case?? no matter to me. and no one else replyed to Rogers post about it?

Roger what's a good date for shipping to me? :) I'll take a few pictures of it while here too..

Dan, I wonder now - If Dave wants to file work the blade shouldn't that be done before Bruce etches?? I must be wrong but I don't remember anything about file work - however that is great as far I am concerned.

Dan please email your address again so I can get this out to you tomorrow.

Roger I had it down on the list for some reason? ? anyway now that it's H/Ted I'm not sure Dave would want to do that but that's up to him. personaly I don't have carbide files so I wouldn't want to try it.... I do agree it should be done before Bruce gets it,,

Being Damascus I wonder how difficult to file it might be but I DON'T DARE take a file to it to find out! I doubt its a deal breaker whether or not it is file patterned. Let's just go with the way we said before: it goes to you, then to Jay for sheath making, then back to me for case making, then to Bruce. Bruce and Dave can figure it out from there. If Bruce wants it any sooner Jay can ship to Bruce and Bruce can ship to me for case making after he does his large part. How'a that?

DAN - PLEASE EMAIL ME YOUR SHIP-TO ADDRESS. EMAIL TO MY @netzero.net email address please. I AM READY TO SHIP.

Im in no rush. Just go ahead and let it run the entire coarse. Looking forward to it but I will get to see it in due time.

Okay then Bruce and Dan, if alright with all else and especially with Dave, let's go with going to Dan and then to Jay for the killer sheath. With the sheath made my Pop can make the case. He will have the bolo, the knife and sheath and already knows to make the drawer for a 8 1/2 by 11 cert.. So he can do his part after sheath is made. Get that out of the way and we're set and that also gives time for you fellows to figure out the possible file work situation. How is that - anybody??

Roger
I just noticed this thread. Is this the ivory that I sent to someone a few years back?
Chuck

It sure is Chuck. It is part of that trade you made with me for the mommoth tooth knife I made for you. It was the best of the ivory in that trade, or at least as far as the other guys in the team voted on. You also gave me another drop dead georgious piece of ALL blue bark in that deal that I have not yet used. That one is better suited for a little smaller knife. Can't wait to have someone want me make one of it. Anyhow, what do you think of how this one is turning out?

Hi guys. I think it can go to Dan and Bruce now. When I had the blades I decided I would hold off on the filework because I couldn't think of a good way to do it on that beautiful damascus. For me filework always gets lost in the damascus pattern, or ruins its appearance. Couldn't bring myself to do it. I should have addressed this before and not left you fine men wondering. ;)

I can't say for the rest of you and especially the top makers such as Bruce and Dan and etc. but what Dave just said settles it for my vote. My vote, and it is only one vote among many that matter more, is we forego file work and get this puppy done. Well, I know I've had the knife for over a year before finishing my part so I don't really mean it like that - "let's get this done". I just mean if Dave thinks what he thinks I agree with him and he is the blade grinder in this knife project. My opinion is only one of all us though.

Okay all, the knife went out to Dan Gray today (Sept. 25).

Dan, it went Priority USPS mail. Should be there in a couple days. Start looking for it Wednesday.

In view of the fact that Pop has decided to incorporate the bolo into the case I have elected on my own to have him keep it until case is complete. I do hope that is okay with all else but it just saved him and I an extra trip back and forth between our distant homes. Also Pop has told me that he would like the Certificate of Origin to be laminated. That sounds very okay to me and I would like other opinions on that as soon as you can. If to be laminated then he should know soon as reasonable what to expect for total size, width and length. He expects the Cert. itself to be standard 8 1/2 by 11 inches and then there will be some added size because of lamination. I do believe it is Dan Koster doing the Cert.. Dan K. can you give some recommendations on all that please?

rlinger

I had planned on 8"x10" plus 1/8" ea. side for lamination. Leave at least 1/4" of room horiz/vert for it to kick around.

Sounds like we got that one solved then Dan K.. Thanks for the good info and okay on the slack room for kicking around but knowing the Ol'Man I'd guess he'll custom fit it. Don't know for sure in this case but he has the link to this and probably will see your recommendation. At the least I will let him know your plans and suggestion.
