I'll be doing the same. I'm curious about the Northfield jigged bone and stag before I make a decision on which one to buy.

How's the wear on the micarta or how does it age over time?

From my experience, micarta is an excellent handle material. You can scuff it up for more traction. If it gets too rough somehow from use its easy to resand and smooth. I prefer micarta bead blasted and may have to find someone to do that for me if I pick one of these up.

Something about that green micarta with that bar shield and lanyard hole just works. I am excited, this will be my first swayback and wharncliffe main blade.

With use and exposure most green micarta will take on a brownish hue, more the canvas than so the linen. Looks really good after time.
