Who's excited for #47 Viper?!

I held off from buying a Case Swayback Jack because I knew GEC was working on a Swayback, and I think the GEC will fit me better than the Case. First the GEC looks bigger and a little more hefty in the handle which I like, and I was looking for a single wharncliff blade which is another plus. Also, I like Case and I'm not bashing them, but they only offer one Swayback model in CV (Chestnut bone), unless I'm wrong, and that model has a pen blade which I don't want.

Yes, I rather agree. The CASE version has sunk-joints which is something GEC ought to be doing more of too. I'm not a fan of lanyard holes either, but many feel very differently on that one. I need something to look forward to in knives :D But I'm not able to find it:eek::grumpy: Yet:D

I think the Case SBJ is one of their best ever patterns. If you find a good Chestnut its a top notch knife. I am excited about GEC doing one, only I have enough single blade folders, I want something with 2 blades.

See everyone's different. I never, and I mean never use the pen blade which is why I prefer a single without the pen.

When I saw the Viper pattern I was excited about snapping one up. Then I took a look at what I already have and said the dreaded words a knife lover should never say to himself/herself.

"DO I REALLY NEED IT?"

The answer is no.............well...................sort of.
My GEC 55 Wharnie should be able to do what the 47 Viper can do in a slightly smaller carry.
Case SBGent if I need smaller.
GEC 57 Half Whit Wharnie/Pen as an alternate to the 55.
Case Mini Trapper Wharnie/Clip as another alternate.

OK....Having said all that, I'll probably pick one up in the near future. I have a habit of not heeding my own advice! :D

I agree everyones different. I guess when I think "Traditional folder" I always think multi-blade first. I have a Braggin Bag chock full of single blade single hand folders that do the single blade thing much better than any single blade traditional I have so I generally want the extra blade in my traditionals, I know, odd. Im betting they come out with a locking blade single, that would be cool too.

Can any of you guys that have one comment on how thick it is? Close to another you have handled? Thanks

I ordered one tonight. I think it is going to be a stellar knife; yep, I'm excited about it.

Ohh, man! These look great! Can't wait for the play-budget to grow back, so I can grab one in ebony!!

It's been a little while since I bought a pocket knife, and I'm very happy with the too many I already own, but this one has got my attention...
