Who's getting a Little Jack or Watch Pocket Barlow?

So very nice Sarah. The clip barlow is making me miss the single blade clip traded away. :(

Thanks, and : Ruh-roh!

Thank you ever so much for the continued education on this particular piece!! I'll definitely start to keep an eye out for one of these.

You're welcome, and I hope you find one. :) The bone pre-dates GEC's procuring, processing, and [p]finishing its own, so I'm not sure if or when we'll see more like it on a GEC knife. Plus, as noted, bone with the same name on other patterns often... isn't the same.

Your example is a stunning piece as well. As I mentioned earlier the #25 was my very first GEC. I, of course, originally bought it as a user but as soon as it arrived and I was able to gain an appropriate appreciation for just how well made and fantastic these little knives are I returned it to its tube never to be carried. I take it out every now and then to look it over but back she goes soon after.

I'm partial to the all steel versions of these little knives they do from time to time more so than the ones with the brass pins and liners. These are the only small details I wasn't overly excited about on this run but I do have to admit that I can hardly wait to get my first single blade #25. It'll also be my very first sheepsfoot as well so that only adds to the excitement.

This is my one example, really feel in love with the Snakewood.

Very nice! I agree about the all-steel knives having something special. In fact, given that the UN-X-LD stamp (not etch) has typically been used on all-steel knives only, I wonder if that's what's in the offing for Barry's upcoming barlow? Let's ask!

I also agree that the snakewood barlows, with their stamped blades, are standouts in the #25 line. Mine is the Poster Child. ;)

Sarah, thank you for the photos and tutorial.

Thanks for the comparison pics, pertinux!

My pleasure. :) If anyone is still interested in a comparison with a #77 or two, I can hopefully get to that this week end, when I have a better chance at, let's see, "light."

If so, I will likely post the pictures in my dedicated #25s thread and link to them here.

[I once again extend a hearty Welcome, bordering on pervasive request, for anyone with a #25 and/or new pictures of the same to continue contributing to the thread. Hearty aficionados of these WLSTs® have kept the thread robust even without regular new releases [especially in the barlow range]; I would love to see these upcoming 2015 beauties represented there and carrying us all forward. Thanks!]

I already asked that question and was told that they would indeed have the stamped blade but brass pins and liners.

I ordered a black little jack today as soon as I saw them.cant wait to see what else is coming out.this hobby has quickly took over my other hobbies as no.1

My Gabon Ebony came in today. I'm very pleased with it and absolutely love this little guy.

This is a great pocket knife. I'm surprised, I like it so much.

Fine new arrival that Ebony 25. :cool:The simplicity of the Tidioute versions often work really well, I also like the pin finish on that one: no ugly sunk holes to attract dirt... :barf:

Hope my Red Linen Tidioute and Chechen Rosewood Northfield will be as good. The long wait in Europe begins....

I'll second that!

Good looking knife, HST!

Oh the #25 is awesome! Pure goodness and the fit and finish is way up there. I guess I'm in for every one of 'em...

Well, I learned an important lesson tonight about acting quickly. I've been curious about the #25's, and I've enjoyed seeing each new one show up on GEC's front page, but I hadn't seen the one that really spoke to me yet. I usually prefer jigged bone, but neither the Burnt Orange or Antique Amber quite did it for me. So tonight I was on a particular distributor's website and saw that they had posted their individually listed Natural Stags, and I really liked the way they looked, one example in particular. So I looked at it, and thought about it, and looked at it some more, and eventually decided that I'd wait for my wife to get home (which would only be half an hour or so) and ask her if she wanted to get it for me for Christmas. Well, half an hour was too long, and someone else bought the one I was looking at. Thankfully there was a runner up, a second favorite, and I ordered that one, but I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't mad at myself for not pulling the trigger right away and getting the one I really wanted.

So, to whoever has the GEC Northfield UN-X-LD #25 Little Jack in Natural Stag, Serial #59, on its way to them, I say congrats... you have great taste. :D:thumbup:

I sold this little guy recently... and couldn't help myself with the new run of 25s coming out!!!! I have several on the way to replace this 25 I sold :D I'll post more pics when they all land

Yes, they're decent too but I've never really taken to that Sabre grind on a small knife, I feel the conventional GEC version works better so your new additions are bound to please.

choombak Impressive Stag on that one, a certain pocket treasure!

btbO1 I understand your hesitation on some Stag though as it's really individual but the lesson here is when you see a knife that's yours, make sure it is! We've all been there....but, I'm sure after some months in the pocket you won't even remember your first choice as stag takes on a lot of character over time.

Thanks, Will

I'm definitely looking forward to it. This will be my first stag that I'll actually use and carry (I have a Schatt & Morgan Medium Coke Bottle with absolutely stunning stag covers, but a couple other issues that keep me from ever using the knife: a nail-breaker of a pull, and an uneven main grind that left part of the blade too fat, causing the blade to rub the liner on one side and making it somewhat difficult to sharpen properly). Anyways, I can't wait to get this one and see what the stag does after a little carry and use.

Don't sweat it Sarah, it's only money:)

I received the 2 I ordered today, these are cool little knives. I'm glad GEC did another run, I remember looking at the ones in Sarahs collection at the Rendezvous and really liking them. I'm really liking the jigged bone GEC has been doing lately.

As I read your story I thought, wow, that's exactly what I was up to last night. Only difference was that I actually managed to order mine in time, this time, avoiding that familiar feeling of disappointment you described. About a micro-second later it dawned on me, oh, wait a minute, I think I'm that someone.:o I must've hummed & hawed 29 min. to your 30. I don't actually know if it's #59 but I'm guessing it probably is.
Last year I wanted a particular Freemont jack & I'd just missed it, only to end up happier with the one I got. Hopefully will be the same for you btb01.

Just ordered a 25 Sheepsfoot EO in Burnt Orange Jigged Bone, can't wait
