Who's gotten their 5.1 Starter?

And, some of them are getting packed up!!!! :)

Some. It is slow going on those right now, as we are focused on building the last of the GSO-5.1 presales and now regular Monday GSO-5.1 orders. But Guy has been finishing the random GSO-4.7 occasionally. They will start going out in larger batches next week. Though don't get too excited. There are still a lot of GSO-4.7 orders to get through, so it will be a few weeks until they are all fulfilled.

Wow, that looks awesome! I had almost settled for jade g10 for my 4.5 to-be-ordered, but now I might have to get bone linen... But of course it won't be the same "magic batch" I guess...

Anyone knows if bone linen discolors with use?

One thing about my boring need for green canvas is it always makes my first purchase "easy" what is hard is determining the 2nd purchase or spare handle purchase.... big fan of green/burgandy/black linen and orange g-10 and black canvas....etc etc

Got mine in a few minutes ago. My older 4.1 came back with it after receiving a ferro notch and sharpening.
Initial impression: Holy Crap! That's a big knife!

Both are sharper than anything I have ever owned. Literally glides through copy paper with just the weight of the blade. I am thoroughly impressed.
They even threw in a new-style clip (with the bigger belt openings) for my 4.1 sheath.

Thank you Guy, Ellie and Christian for making a truly world-class product!

Very cool! Sorry to be so nosey, but had the 4.1 received quite a bit of sharpening in its life?

I was having a similar conversation with Guy last night: "I think I need a GSO-4.7, they have felt really perfect as I'm packing them up" "Really? I would have picked a GSO-4.1 for you. Look at these pictures" "I think I need a GSO-4.7. That is a picture on a computer, the GSO-4.7 feels right. The GSO-4.1 may change my mind later, but right now, GSO-4.7 all-day."
This is so cool to hear coming from you. Ya got good taste!

Just knowing there are some finished ones helps. I will be cautiously optimistic. :)

Cautiously optimistic, I like that! I shall be the same :D

Redwood, you seem to have your signature colors set, I like that! I felt compelled in an obsessive way to keep going with black handles once I started, but now I'm feeling a need for more color :)

Honestly, I'm not sure. I'm the second owner of this one. When I got it, you could tell it had seen some use. The edge could have been called a "working edge". Sharp enough to cut paper with a little hand finesse, but nothing near shaving sharp. I knew I wanted a ferro notch anyways, so I figured why not let the master craftsman sharpen it while they have it.

I'm interested to find out how long this m390 holds that hair popping edge. I'll try and put it through some paces this weekend and report back.

Cool, thanks for the background information. Maybe it was the pic or the angle, the blade edge just seemed not to come down to the ricasso like a brand new one. Since it's not brand new, I guess that explains it :)

Yeah, green canvas is my default too! But since the pre-orders had free upgrades I started thinking (never a good idea) that I should get the "second color, first". Oh well, I really don't need anything but green canvas, but sometimes it's fun to dress it up. :)

So here are some pics to show you the differences between the new and old 5.1 and sheaths
