Tis week's been gorgeous for ridin' in the NEPA 60's and 70's by the end of the week.

Who's still ridin' and what're ya ridin'?

Me. '97 Moto Guzzi California. 1100 cc of fuel injected Italian goodness.

It does get a bit chilly late at night...

I have a cold/flu that's kept me off the bike the last few days, plus I rarely get enough sleep due to very long hours at work. But I'm going for a ride tomorrow. Even if the weather's cold, I'll at least ride around town. Ideally though, I'd like to cruise over The Pass to Trinidad, Colorado.

Here's a pic I took last Fall on a tour around Colorado:

A 2001 Kawi KLR 650 -with a few mods.

I'm riding down to the Great Sand Dunes Wilderness area next week to dune surf...haven't figured out to strap the board to the bike yet, but I have a lot of bungee cords.

Bob, have you ever rode around the the Jilla ? Some great rides down by Silver City.

Ride Safe,
Jeff

Hi All-

Still riding my pristine 1991 Honda CBR 600F2 here in the northeastern part of the country...

Compared to this picture, my bike has a very comfortable and attractive Corbin saddle, improved suspension, and upgraded tires. People unfamiliar with motorcycles are always asking me if I've just come from the showroom with it. As long as temperatures are above 45* Fahrenheit or so, I can be found on two wheels...

Yup---just a couple days ago---'04 Kawasaki ZZR600----with Muzzy exhaust and Dyna jet kit added. I'll maybe get another week or 2 then its time for the Sta-bil and trickle charger.

Plan on riding my Yamaha V-Star 1100 Silverado all year round. I'm in Southern California, so that isn't too hard to manage. It does freeze and snow from time to time up here in the desert though.

It's been in the 40's here in NYC during the morning commute, which required me to break out the electric vest.

Underaged,

Have you taken a M.O.S.T. course?

If not, please do so before getting a bike. Great training, and you'll save on insurance.

Take a parent/guardian along for the class and they'll go with you to get you a bike...and one of their own. Education eats fear.

Ride Safe,
Jeff

I have a couple of Trumpet's but my favorite is a '78 Bonneville 750 T140E.It's been in the 40's around here too,so not ridin' as much as I'd like to.Trumpets are what we call Triumphs around here.

Alas, I havn't ridden since the 70s. Still, with gas prices and all, I'm considering wiring my weed-whacker motor up to my recumbent bicycle.....

Believe it or not, this can be done. There's a company that makes a bolt-on centrifugal clutch for several popular weed-whacker mills, and you can get a bike hub built up with a motorcycle sprocket replacing the lowest cog on the rear wheel.

..recumbent..LOL.Cool hearing an engine/motor called a "mill".Anywho,yeah.You can.The ones I've seen had the belt drive(pulleys),just like the Harley-Davidsons.

When my aunt told my uncle to stop riding his motorcycle (why'd he stop? I don't know), he gave me his Yamaha. He used it for motocross, but I never learned how to ride. It's been sitting in my fathers shop for about 20 years! Not proud of it. Now I wanna learn, but I don't even know if it will start.

A 20-year old Yamaha MC bike? Should be no problem if the rings havn't frozen to the cylinder wall.
Pull the sparkplug and run the starter through a couple of times. If it turns over freely, you should be in buisness. (I'm assuming it's a 2-stroke) Just make sure you have fresh gas in the tank and 2-stroke oil in the oil-injection system.

The carb may have accumulated considerable sludge in that period; you may have to take off the float bowl and clean the jets up a bit.

This thread is making me misty :( When I unexpectedly became a parent, and then more unexpectedly became a single parent, I had to make a deal with my folks. If I moved back in with them with my son, I had to sell my cycles.

My mother was convinced I'd get killed on one, and leave them solely responsible for my son. I had a 250 and 500 dual purpose, but the one I really miss is the BMWR65LS. What a perfect backroad bike for our hilly area. Super dependable and comfortable, while still being nimble. For years I'd dream it was still in the garage, and get up on a Saturday morning looking forward to a ride. He's 18 now, and living out of the country. Maybe it's time I got back on 2 wheels :D

There are not many things in my life that I enjoyed more than riding my bike, but unfortunately my riding days are over. Two herniated disc's in my back did me in. Not fair.

I rarely get a chance to ride, but this week my wife is out of town with our only car, so I'm getting around on a friend's bike. It's a 1975 BMW R65 in excellent condition and it gets me to and from work in style.
