Why carry an expensive knife?

Can you say Phallic Symbol? My guess is to compensate for something else 'substandard' in the pocket region.....

I think people who are so quick to come to this conclusion are projecting their, ahem, shortcomings onto others.

Better than you do, my friend . . . better than you do.

So, tell us, why do they/you do it - what do they/you get out of it - what emotional need does it fulfill?

Troll posts don't really bother me. I feel sorry for the trolls. I can only guess that they are desperate for any human interaction.

Anyone else think this is a Troll? This is the third thread with a similar topic.

This isn't a troll, it really is my first post here. I'm not sure what threads you are referring to, but I couldn't find any that asked the same question I'm asking. I'm wondering if you experienced guys can tell the difference between good knives -- not a POS and $1000 custom -- but between good knives and what many posters seem to consider great knives in actual use. I don't have any knives you guys consider great, so I'm asking before I make the commitment.

I carry a Super CQC7 with a Ti framelock conversion. All in all, it cost me $425. I use it and carry it every day. It's the knife I reach for first. Then again, I view my watch the same way. Art knives aside, an expensive knife was built to be used.

If you're accusing me of being a troll, just come out and say it. But before you do, you might want to take a look at how many people are down there at the bottom of the page who are hoping you do.

Not at all - but in your post you said you knew.

Dexter, obviously your reading skills are impaired, so I'll spell it out for you. I've pretty obviously spent a whole lot more time on this forum than you have, and I've developed a pretty keen sense of who is and who isn't. Granted, I've been wrong. Once, I think. But our OP isn't ringing any bells with me.

Perhaps you feel kinship with the trolls.

Derailing/hijacking a n00b's thread and making baseless accusations against a respected member of this forum could be considered trolling, and you are hereby advised to cease and desist. ;)

Back to the topic...

Most of my knives range from $150-$900. Almost all of them get carry and use. I use them because I have confidence in the skills of the maker. Skills like that command a higher price.

... or I could be really good at self justification ;)

Let's get back on topic.

The most expensive I'm willing to pay atm is around 260 bucks for a DDR HTM bowie gunhammer.

Yes, I can tell the difference. Personally it's easy for me because I'm a stickler for details, but you don't have to be anal retentive to see the difference between $10, $50, and $250 knives.
